What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Cool one! There’s a lot of history with the Okapi (not necessarily good history!) and it sure is an interesting lock. Does your example have the “ratchet” like opening? I bought the Kudu (made by Cold Steel) just to have in my collection. I’d really like to find an authentic South African-made version like yours in that kind of condition.

That is in fact an authentic ratcheting 907E. I bought my first one in Africa in the early 90s. That one got stolen, but some years later I found a seller from South Africa selling them on the Bay for a little over $20, which is where I got the next couple. Then for a while they were widely available on the big shopping site (and elsewhere) - I got the one pictured for $15 from there. Almost all the ones on the Bay now are either fakes, ridiculously overpriced, or both, so be very careful.

Pocket and neck clutter for the upcoming week. Haven't carried the Grenadill in a while, figured it would pair nicely with the Damascus Izula. Black Alox Cadet still on key ring duty for one more week, then time for a change.

Congratulations!

While composing this long reply, this came on my playlist, a shuffle for discovering new music... the timing was perfect, and just a little eerie!

Hey, that IS exciting! :cool::thumbsup:
Congratulations Sacto, I hope they do well for you. :):thumbsup:
Congratulations! :thumbsup::thumbsup:
Congratulations! A lot of hard work to make a dream come true, right?
Thanks a lot guys. Its definitely something I've been wanting to do for quite a while. The right opportunity finally came up so I went for it. Hopefully it works out. Now I just need to hope for more rain and a strong market.

I carried this today, hanging out at the house and doing yard work.

That skunk looks great. How are you liking it so far? The action on my cherry bone is perfect for my tastes. I think they really nailed these.
I’m surprised how perfect the action is on these new 85’s. I like strong snap at all the positions and this one has it. The pull is definitely stronger than the average patterns GEC has been putting out lately. For example, I thought all 4 of the recent 15’s that I’ve handled were nice, but a little weak on the close. The pulls are strong on this one, maybe in the 6-7 range, firm but going to break a fingernail.

No worries, thanks anyway :thumbsup:

I'll chime in and add mine too :D

Difficult to compare as really different but I do prefer the Tribal to the Copperlock. It's got a broader handle that's better in my hand, plus I like Spears over Clips (mostly);) The Copperlock is too thin and long I certainly much prefer the Mini Copperlock as it's much more balanced than the full size.

thanks! There seems to be a consensus so far, and it suits me—I prefer a broader handle as well. I appreciate all the replies! —Tony

Got this Colonial out to post in the “Worn Out Knives” thread and decided to carry it today - it’s probably been a long time since it was in a pocket. I’m still trying to figure out what happened to the pivot end bolsters.:confused:

(and Vic Cadet)

Yikes! Monday again!
Have a good one!
If I was a true knife nut I might carry all of these for Micarta/Mammoth Monday. :D
I think I'll carry the two in the middle...or maybe the top and bottom.....or...
Good thing I'm in no hurry to go anywhere today.
