Exactly! I think you'd like it, Jack. The author writes well--he's a gifted storyteller, so it's a joy to read. There is so much going on in the book beyond (but related to) the Carson biographic details.

Had these 2 Cattaraugus in my pockets today .
Even had to use the Barlow to open the package that had this in it .

My Spanish traditional slippy I bought on a road trip around Spain 2 years ago.
At my stop a week later my hotel was in the city centre there was a leather shop close by.
I went in and gave him a French pattern knife slip I had with me and he made another one similar for my Spanish knife.
He did this within the hour of my checking out of the hotel.
