What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Peasant knife.

Peasants rule!
...um
That peasant knife is a pleasant knife!:thumbsup::cool:

Congrats to all who have picked up one of those fantastic GEC 83s, either new or old; very appealing little lockbacks!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Well, as the good ‘ole Hockey game’s over and with congrats to the Lightning for the repeat,
Today’s carry is for our Charlie C.
Good vibes abound…

A great day to ONE and all 🤠
Ravishing ruby red Robeson, Gus!:cool::thumbsup:

Queen Canoe for today.
Riveting royal canoe, Mike! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Not gonna pretend I'm carrying these today. I think my trousers would fall down under the weight if I attempted it. But they are out. Recent acquisitions with lovely stag handles. Both main blades have had to be re-profiled due to damage but they're still good and functional with excellent snap. The mariners knife is by Joseph Allen & son and the other is Taylor Eye Witness, both of Sheffield.

Those are vibrant vintage examples, Mark!:cool::cool:
Do they both have copper bails/shackles?

A couple of Case XX knives today

Xd4wpIn.jpg
Breathtaking bone on both Cases, Steve!!:thumbsup::cool:

Toting a couple of pocket hogs today, a thrifty Hammer Brand/Imperial scout from 1945-55 and a Remington jack made by Camillus on the early 50s. :)
Captivating couple of knives, JJ!:thumbsup::cool:
I wish polygonal shields were more common. 🤓

Seldom separated from my 2000 Baby Butterbean.
Magnificent mini canoe! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:
I think of myself as quite a "canoesseur", but I still haven't ordered a Case Baby Butterbean! 😲

You’re quite welcome and thank you kindly Gary 🤠
There’s always next year !
...
That's something I've said often as a Chicago Cubs fan! 😢;)

Good evening,

Thank you very much.
You have a lot of nice knives that I like... ;) 😎
I appreciate your kind words. :)

Had this Case Texas Jack out after the mail run day
Noticed on the backside, all these chips and lines cut and some brown stuff smeared all over it
If I send it back, can Case fix it or should I just toss it and get another? ... Thanks !!!

Just be patient; I'm sure your "buyer's remorse" will eventually be less severe! 😁

Had to split my post because it contained more than 10K characters, but when I pasted the stuff I cut out of the original into the "post window", I was told it had over 20 images, so somehow the cut&paste operation apparently turned emojis into images. I guess I'll try erasing a bunch of emojis and see if my post is accepted...

First time anybody's complimented the shed latch. Thanks GT
The shed was here when I bought the house in '94. The company that made it is just down the road and still in business. Pic from last winter.

I didn't actually carry a knife today View attachment 1596803
I had a colonoscopy this morning and left the pocket knife at home. I commented to my friend who drove me that it was the first time I'd left the house without a pocket knife since the last colonoscopy. After I got home I took a long, satisfying nap

Here's a pic of a couple of Rough Ryder splitback whittlers for Thrifty Thursday and to maintain knife content

Thanks for the extra shed info, Mike. Nostalgia sometimes makes us do unusual things.
Glad the colonoscopy is behind you! I really despise the prep, but afterward, the first meal followed by a nap is quite nice.

Actually, it was FOUR knives, including the modern lockback I'd packed along... I like a lockback when I head to the woods.
😲🤪

The stag on that is great. Very different and great

Haha. They’re not supposed to have two heads? No, we don’t actually have cattle there; I was doing some other work. I think the plant was decommissioned in the late 80s.
😁😁

Just snip those silver maple volunteers off at the base. They might re-sprout a couple of times, but they’ll die eventually. It’s a lot easier.
My neighbor to the south has two fairly big ones and my property got heavily seeded this year. I have pulled hundreds of seedlings in my garden alone.
...
Thanks for the maple advice, Jeff. That's what I ended up doing back when I worked on them. I was going to use a hatchet to cut through a bunch of roots that were making it hard for me to get a spade under the maples, but then I decided I'd be in BIG trouble if I happened to chop off some hemlock roots and damage the 20' hemlock that's the "headstone" for one of my wife's former cats buried in the side yard!

...

Thanks Gary Yeah, I've been finding it out in spades!

A pleasure my friend

It was the belle of the cake table!

Hope everyone has had a good week I'm carrying my Bagpipe Ebony Big 'Un today, along with an Old Friend

Thanks for the remarks, Jack.
Delightful duo you've selected!

Keeping with the canoe theme another day. Canal Street Canittler. Happy Friday everyone!

0WyZmIX.jpg
Another regal canoe/canittler, Mike (and the covers match quite well with the Queen you posted earlier)!

Leaving shortly for a short road trip. Day one will be a Camillus day.View attachment 1597049I chose one of my 72s to go with one of my 23s. (I have two of each, for ...reasons )
View attachment 1597058
And a Wenger Backpacker II. I will be prepared in case a tree falls across the road.View attachment 1597060
Have a safe and enjoyable trip, Jeff!
If a tree DOES fall across the road, I'm sure the Wenger saw will eventually handle it, but I suspect the road trip will no longer be short!

Colorful photo; I really like the top knife with its big spearpoint blade and light wood handle!

Have to get a few things done around here today, the weather is turning bad tonight and tomorrow. Lots of rain and wind. I’ll have my Jack, a 15 (in ebony for Black Friday), and a “burgers” SD. Don’t get me wrong, I like steak, but grind it up and put it on a bun and I like it a whole lot more! View attachment 1597072
I enjoy seeing your Vic Classic SDs with the special designs, Todd!

Not sure if I’m in a rut, or in the groove, but I don’t see anything displacing this any time soon (except maybe one of my several identical ones):
Many of us ask for the moon and stars, but you actually got them! I understand why you see no reason to change!

Black Friday it is and a fave is on duty…

A great Friday and weekend to all
That black Barlow is bewitching!

I’m preparing my arsenal for a short camping trip.

Hope you had a great trip; quality quartet you selected!

Great lineup Gary, the stag on that Senator looks really nice!
And a "Manly Jack" it is!
Terrific trio Gary
Thanks for the support, Todd & John & Jack.

Have a great weekend everyone. 110 -113 Degrees here for the next four days. 🥵

I hope that TC stands for "Tim's Cool" during your hot spell!

I always carry my shapleigh jr cattle in my pocket organizer, but in addition to that today I was feeling the red case 6347.

The Case bone is spectacular!

Toting these two old Pocket Eze slicers for Friday; easy on the pockets, today.
Notable pair, JJ; I'll vote for the pen knife today!

Tough to beat M&Ms and a French knife, Alan!

A great knife
@Travman What a wonderful Jackknife, and your photo really does it justice.

Not usually a Muskrat man but in the mood for something a bit different to start this week. Old Buck Knife offering from the 1970’s, a 313 contract knife by Camillus. OH
Buck_313_Muskrat.jpg
A great knife Old Hunter, I like the slim profile and the spey vs 2nd clip blade that most muskrats seem to have-I grasped mine this past weekend but opted for something else-glad to see others appreciating the 313!👍🏼

Hi
Thank you. It is a big "shuttle", Le Puy Cervier, created by Jean Issard and assembled and marketed by the association Les Vieilles Lames.
