What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

That peasant knife is a pleasant knife!:thumbsup::cool:

Congrats to all who have picked up one of those fantastic GEC 83s, either new or old; very appealing little lockbacks!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Ravishing ruby red Robeson, Gus!:cool::thumbsup:

Riveting royal canoe, Mike! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Those are vibrant vintage examples, Mark!:cool::cool:
Do they both have copper bails/shackles?
Yeah they sure do. Always wanted a WW1 period military example, then two come along at once. The larger knife is possibly earlier.
Breathtaking bone on both Cases, Steve!!:thumbsup::cool:

Captivating couple of knives, JJ!:thumbsup::cool:
I wish polygonal shields were more common. 🤓

Magnificent mini canoe! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:
I think of myself as quite a "canoesseur", but I still haven't ordered a Case Baby Butterbean! 😲

That's something I've said often as a Chicago Cubs fan! 😢;)

I appreciate your kind words. :)

Just be patient; I'm sure your "buyer's remorse" will eventually be less severe! 😁

We had a great camping trip with my wife’s family; just a little too short. We hiked to a stream yesterday, and I brought my fly rod. I saw a bunch of trout but couldn’t catch any. The swimming was good, though. Here are a few pictures.

Thanks, John. It’s a great camp knife. 👍
Great pictures Sacto, that stream is so beautiful I’d fish it even if I knew there were no fish in it!😊
When you get a chance, check out the “Don’t Stop Believing” SAK. 😉👍
I enjoy seeing your Vic Classic SDs with the special designs, Todd!

Thanks Gary, I think you’ll like the one I have for this week. I’ll post it later today.
😉👍

I did a little write-up on mine when I first got it.
I remember reading that review, very well done.
I don't generally carry a SAK, I don't really have needs for all the tools.
A simple blade and a cap lifter/screwdriver is about all I need, so the Cadet got carried a lot as a backup.
But this Solo can definitely take the place of a main cutting tool, like you said the size is great and it's super pocket-able.

Thanks for the compliment Gary, and for your heroic multi-quoting efforts :) That's a cool pic, I'm surprised you didn't organise those M&Ms! :D ;)
He probably did, and we just aren't smart enough to see it. 🤣
Indeed, I DID organize those candies for a btb01 btb01 GAW last summer
(https://www.bladeforums.com/threads...way-a-counting-game-winner-announced.1741295/)
Participants were supposed to contribute pictures showing 1 thing, 2 things, ..., up to 106 things (Barrett's # of GEC knives at the time). The pic I posted this morning had 85 Peanut Butter M&Ms organized in 8 vertical columns of 10 candies and one column of 5 candies.

Like that spearpoint Gary. Looks kind of small.
Alan, that knife started as an Opinel #6 (so about 3.75" closed, IIRC), but I wanted to reshape the handle into a "cigar" shape. Due to poor planning on my part, I discovered after the handle mod that the blade no longer fit the handle:

So to try to fix my mistake, I decided to turn the blade into a spearpoint by removing the steel colored in red:

I don't think I've ever measured the size of my "new" knife.

Hi
Thank you. It is a big "shuttle", Le Puy Cervier, created by Jean Issard and assembled and marketed by the association Les Vieilles Lames.
Size 11,5 cm blade XC75 this one has a handle in olive tree

Thanks for the additional information about that handsome knife (and for the "picture book" background ;))!

Yeah they sure do. Always wanted a WW1 period military example, then two come along at once. The larger knife is possibly earlier.

Thanks for the confirmation.

Getting ready to go out for dinner. Dropping these in my pocket. Since we’re in Michigan, I thought I’d carry my Lighthouse SD this week. If I have my facts correct, there are more lighthouses in Michigan than any other state in the US. View attachment 1599212
Very cool lighthouse SAK, Todd! 🤓:cool: We have a jigsaw puzzle that's essentially a map of the Great Lakes with little sketches of all of the Great Lakes lighthouses placed on the map; I like it!

First Boker came in today so I'm going to carry it for awhile. Bought it to modify but we'll see.
Had one of those in my toolbox for years - mine has extremely strong springs (the old bear-trap spring of legend) but is a fine working knife. Enjoy! OH
Old Hunter Old Hunter Thanks. This one is stout but I wouldn't call it a bear trap. Both blades are full but spotted. It does seem to be made to use. I like it
I have one of those Boker USA linesman knives, and it's virtually bombproof! Nice knife!:thumbsup::cool:
