That will be very cool, Gary; a bit of a "Kephart" folder!Alan, that knife started as an Opinel #6 (so about 3.75" closed, IIRC), but I wanted to reshape the handle into a "cigar" shape. Due to poor planning on my part, I discovered after the handle mod that the blade no longer fit the handle:

So to try to fix my mistake, I decided to turn the blade into a spearpoint by removing the steel colored in red:

Very appropriate carry, Todd.![]()
Thanks guys, I originally bought that a few years ago because there is a small lighthouse on our lake, but it seemed perfect for this week.Very cool lighthouse SAK, Todd!We have a jigsaw puzzle that's essentially a map of the Great Lakes with little sketches of all of the Great Lakes lighthouses placed on the map; I like it!

That is some exceptionally nice Ironwood . I used some Gunstock Wax on the wood and used the back of a leather belt to buff up the bolsters . It is all a matter of taste and I prefer them that way .Rarely carried. Thinking of giving the wood and bolster a polish.

I’ll bet you hit the same road destruction lane closures we did.Getting ready to go out for dinner. Dropping these in my pocket. Since we’re in Michigan, I thought I’d carry my Lighthouse SD this week. If I have my facts correct, there are more lighthouses in Michigan than any other state in the US. View attachment 1599212
I hope it works, buddy!
Thanks for the advice Harry. I have a 46 in ironwood that needs the same treatment. Can you post a pic of your ironwood knife (or knives) polished using Gunstock Wax method? Wondering if carnauba wax would work as well? That is some exceptionally nice Ironwood . I used some Gunstock Wax on the wood and used the back of a leather belt to buff up the bolsters . I Can Not give you an opinion of Carnauba Wax .Thanks for the advice Harry. I have a 46 in ironwood that needs the same treatment. Can you post a pic of your ironwood knife (or knives) polished using Gunstock Wax method? Wondering if carnauba wax would work as well?
Thank you very much Jeff !!!! Pain from the procedure is basically over after now 9 hours . Will do the Left side on Wednesday .I’ll bet you hit the same road destruction lane closures we did.
Everytime I go up there, I think yep. I’d like to have a little getaway fishing camp up here. Then the drive home removes that thought.
I hope it works, buddy!
At least the procedure is not supposed to be too painful.
Thanks, GT. The trip was great. It was good to get to the mountains and out of the heat for a couple days.Hope you had a great trip; quality quartet you selected!
Tough to beat M&Ms and a French knife, Alan!

Brilliant!Indeed, I DID organize those candies for a @btb01 GAW last summer
(https://www.bladeforums.com/threads...way-a-counting-game-winner-announced.1741295/)
Participants were supposed to contribute pictures showing 1 thing, 2 things, ..., up to 106 things (Barrett's # of GEC knives at the time). The pic I posted this morning had 85 Peanut Butter M&Ms organized in 8 vertical columns of 10 candies and one column of 5 candies.
A pleasure Greg, great-looking pair of knives thereThanks for the birthday wish Jack, very kind of you.
Had a whittler and a harness jack on me today. The Case is a recent pick up, still in the honeymoon phase but I'm pretty pleased with it.
The CC HJ-10 has been one of my favorites from the moment I got it a few years ago. I don't think I even considered making it a safe queen,
it is just too nice a knife to not use.

I’m not familiar with that author, but with books on lighthouses, teenaged girls, shipwrecks, and cycling, she certainly has diverse interests.
