That’s a really nice picture of a sweet barlow Headwinds! 😎👍

The Berry Red Bantam is beautiful... like a jewel 🤠
Thanks John, it has a tiny bit of blade rap but it should sharpen right out. I’ve never considered red to be my favorite color, but I seem to be drawn to it, especially in the alox. 👍

NICE Mike !!! ... I debated and debated getting the Natural Canvas Micarta but ended up selecting the Black Linen Micarta version. Should have gotten both maybe.
Thing was, after I cleaned all the gunk out, there was so much blade play that the knife actually RATTLED when shaken. Never had a knife with so much play.
Sent it back to Buck and a couple of months later, received it to find all issues corrected ... but the blade release was/still is a little stiff and continues to break in and loosen up.

Thanks! I debated the same thing. Ultimately went with the canvas micarta for the brushed bolsters. They don't show fingerprints or scratches as bad as the polished bolsters. Glad you got yours fixed up  I have several 501s. Play ranges from none to a little bit. Interestingly the one with the most play is DLT SFO. Its nothing like yours was. Its a user and I had to go check to see if it had play because I couldn't remember

Yup, it has some play, but obviously not enough to bother me :)

Mike, that was the exact same reason I debated getting the Canvas Micarta one. At the end of the day, I always prefer bushed, satin, tumbled bolsters and blades ... anything but polished.
Guess I chose the Black Linen Micarta mainly only because I already had a couple of Natural Micarta knives but no Black Linen Micarta. And I too have a standard 501besides.
