What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Nice Russell. Fun photos. :)

Thank you sir. ea42 re-handled that 1975 Schrade commemorative issue Russell for me back in 2015.
Schrade was said to have used old Russell tooling for bolsters and tang.
Originally, the knife had a Delrin handle that had become a bit faded and ill fitted after 40yrs.
I'd asked Eric for sawcut bone and he offered Mammoth he had laying around waiting for a project.
The rest is history :)

That came out nicely, it's definitely a looker. Thanks for the background.

A "new to me" GEC toothpick with Che Chen covers and an awesome slip I won in JohnDF JohnDF GAW. Thanks John!

Thank you very much JJ, that's a great-looking Puma, and the stag is stunning
Thank you a bunch, Jack!!! :)
Hope nobody has been badly affected by Ida. Got a holiday here today. Carrying a Rosewood Lambsfoot, had a few of these made up a few years back, better fit and finish, and a polished blade. Have a good week everyone

Your lovely lambsfoot looks like a perfect holiday tote; hope your having a great day!

Funny, I have a very similar photo (from my photo imitation GAW a few couple ago). 😁

Never was a Boy Scout myself. Instead, we had R.A.’s, which was sort of like the Southern Baptist version of Boy Scouts. I’ve probably had this knife longer than any other. Always makes me think of my dad.

I was an RA back in the day. Hadn’t thought about that in years. We did some fun camping and canoeing trips. 😊👍
Thanks, Todd. :) I think the first time we vacationed in the U.P., our daughter was nearing her second birthday, so that was 31 years ago. Did you hike the 4-mile trail between the upper and lower falls when you were there? 30 years ago that trail was much more rustic and challenging than it is now. I remember we tried taking our daughter with us on the trail in her stroller. We didn't get very far before we gave up, and I had mud up to my knees already. We ended up with me hiking the trail one direction alone, meeting wife and daughter on the other end, and then my wife hiked it alone the other direction and daughter and me were waiting for her with the car at the other end.
Now there's a pretty nice brewery/restaurant at the Upper Falls. https://www.tahquamenonfallsbrewery.com
I really like the Black Bear Stout and the pastie that I ordered there a 3 weeks ago!:thumbsup:

Maybe I’m thinking of the lower falls then Gary, because I don’t remember any particularly difficult trails. We were there in 93. We remember that trip as our camping/condo trip. On the way up we camped which is what I wanted to do and on the way back we stayed in condos, which is what my wife wanted to do!😄

HA !!! :D ... steam coming off it makes it look lighter but still may not be as dark as some like
I use about 7 grams coffee to 10 ounces water. Some might use that amount of coffee to one cup water
If I wasn’t supposed to fill that #4 cone type paper filter all the way to the top, why’d they make it that big?
A couple of years ago, we visited my wife’s lovely old aunt at her farmhouse in South Dakota to celebrate her 90th birthday. When she poured me a cup of coffee in the morning, it was so thin and weak, that I got a caffeine withdrawal headache just looking at it.

View attachment 1630213Swiss Army Knives are fun, but with so many choices, where do you stop? You can carry a big one that has everything, but when the day’s over, and you take it out of your pocket, how many things did you use?
Or, you can go minimalist, but there’s always that thought that you might have been able to use that one thingamajig that you left behind!
This is the Wenger Backpacker II. The BP I had scissors, but they swapped those for a saw on the second version.
I do like the little clip blade...View attachment 1630214

Great choice! For me anything beyond 3 or 4 layers on a SAK is getting in the overkill region, but to each their own. Wenger gets too little credit, they made some fine knives.

Your Laguioles are such slender, elegant knives when open!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
(I wish they didn't have such a tall, sharp tang corner sticking out when closed.)
I have never seen a blade tip protruding from a closed Laguiole.
And this is not the case for the 5 I currently have.
I'm sorry that my post wasn't more clear. :( I was referring to the sharp corner of the tang square at the pivot end of the knife which on closed Laguioles seems to stick up in a "dangerous" way. 😲

5KQ was speaking of Spanish made Lags I suppose... 😏
I have a "Lag" I bought in Spain, but I'm convinced it was made in China! 🤓

I don't think Gary was talking about the blade tip
I think he was talking about the other end of the blade
(still very overcast today from hurricane Ida)

Jim is much more clear in describing the issue that worries me about Laguioles.:cool::thumbsup:
Indeed, it is possible, I probably misinterpreted the post (problem of bad translation probably). 😕🥺
Again, I'm sorry I wasn't very clear.

OK. I understand now why they sell pants with reinforced pockets. 😂

That's what I worry about, J.P. That tall, sharp corner of the tang in my pocket threatens to be a new kind of spey blade!! o_O:eek:
I suppose since I'm almost 70 years old, that shouldn't bother me so much, but as they say, it's the thought that counts! 😁🤓
(As you might guess, I'm a big fan of "sunk joints".)
