What watch do you wear?

1971 Oyster Perpetual with Rolex c.17XX movement my now deceased best friend bought himself when he graduated from university 40+ years ago.

If all goes as I hope this week, my father will be bringing me his Seiko 6105-8000 diving watch that he bought in Japan on his way home from Viet Nam. I left home in 1991, but always remember that watch sitting in one of his drawers. He never wore it, nor did he smoke a pipe, but he had pipe tobacco in that same drawer. It smelled so good! I hope the watch has that same smell.

I may get laughed at, But I wear a Croton Aquamatic II, black dial, luminous hands, date, rotating bezel. I love the thing, its a tank of a watch. And I wear a cheap beater Polo watch I got at the wally world for $10. Both are accurate and tough as sin.

Why would you get laughed at? Wear what you like and can afford! If you can't afford what you like, save for it. Speaking of getting laughed at, I'm wearing one of two 1980s Timex Titanium watches I own.

I wear an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Grande Complication valued at around $650,000.
No Jaeger-LeCoultre Hybris Mechanica à Grande Sonnerie or Vacheron Constantin Tour de I’Ile a $1.5 million each? How about the A. Lange & Söhne Grand Complication at closer to 2.5 mil?

I can easily afford all of them if I wanted. Don't believe me? Have a look at the "gearhead pron" thread in W&C and take a look at my cars I posted.

I'm not a fan of Vacheron Constantin and the JLC is not my style. I have been wanting to purchase a Lange, but for now I am very happy with my Audemars and Devon Works Tread 1.
