Whatcha got on order? (Traditional Knives Only)

Todd, I love my GEC's and have my collection, but I will allow myself only four knife purchases a year now. I had to slow it down. # two, is going to be one of those trappers like yours...later on.
Looked forever trying to find the trapper. Everyone was sold out, but I got lucky and found one.

I'm slowing my buying down soon, after the beer scout comes out lol.

Every since Cory posted that pic the other day of his new Camp Muk, I've been fondling my old O-1 BHK version and using it again in the kitchen. Such a great and useful mid-size blade. Today my willpower eroded when I saw one of the new, limited edition L.T. Wright versions in A2 - a perfect match for my old, well-loved black w/orange liners BHK 'Frontier Valley.' Should make a perfect hunting pair.

Great to hear that I'm the catalyst for once. I'm usually on the other end of that equation. ;)

I'm still eager to get a chance to go outside and use my Camp muk. I was stuck in Boy Scout training all day yesterday, and today we had a Boy Scout brat fry. Next weekend is camping, so I'll get to put it through it's paces then. I can't wait, as it's been fun just playing with it around the house. I'm eager to see how it works out in actual use.

I have a handful of Case knives in yellow delrin, but no GEC's yet. I picked up the black delrin bullnose to hold me over until they make some using micarta or wood.

They become "old friends" very quickly. The Fruit Sampler Knives I have coming all have Delrin handles/scales.

Enjoy!

I'm waiting with bated breath (I really must stop eating that bait!) The five knives consist of:

a: a new Colonial USN Mark 1 Deck Knife,

b: their 7001 "assisted opener" with 2 3/8" 440C blade,

c: two 7.5" Fruit Sampler knives,

d: a 10.5" Fruit Sampler knife and,

e: the "gift" 10.5" Colonial Fruit Sampler knife (provided so generously by Cory.)

I am giving one of the two Fruit Sampler knives I ordered to a friend as a birthday gift.

I've got two knives on order: a Case Teardrop in smooth chocolate bone and a Schatt & Morgan Keystone #99 Scout in ebony. Fingers crossed that they'll come this week. (Cropped dealer images below.)

I haven't seen much about these two knives, but they tick a lot of personal boxes and I'm excited to see what they're like in person.

The S&M should be pretty good. Its a cheaper Indian river jack and those are good knives.

A couple years ago after purchasing a GEC 73 (with liner lock in ebony), I concluded it was one of the best American made knives ever ;) and because it was so good I'd never need another 73. Ideally, I would have liked one without a lock but they were unavailable at that time. Then GEC released this round of 73's.

My resolve to own only one 73 faded quickly after seeing the Osage model and thinking, "I actually wanted one without a lock, here's my chance to have the Yin and Yang (ebony lock, osage lockless) of one of the best American made knives ever." The result of that thinking is as follows;

and I can hardly wait to see them together, but I'm a little concerned because I've also seen Northfield models with jigged bone covers.:D

I wish I knew how to transfer pictures from other sources, so that I could show some of the knives I have order. The USN Mark 1 Deck Knife and 2 3/8" blade Model 7001 assisted opener, with an 440C steel blade, are due in my mailbox today!

Redsparrow - The 73 is a great knife. It is one that I really enjoy carrying, even in the 2 blade version and liner lock version. I have had my share of them, over a dozen, and finally worked down to just one user and three as safe queens. (Im still on the hunt for a certain one) Each of mine has different pulls. My user is a great feeling 6. While the three safe queens are stiffer but still not equal to each other.

I have read the older ones have the stoutest pulls, but the new ones are being reported to having a stout pull as well. Pull can be relative to the individual. No matter though the 73 is one of my favorites and you have good reason to be concerned in the temptation to get another and another. Just know, IMO, that each may be a little different than the one(s) you have.

Good luck in the resistance. No shame if you fail. Ever time I see a Cocobolo or a good stag I have to hide my wallet. :D

Captain O -

I wouldn't think the Traditional Forum would be the place to show the Model 7001 assisted opener.

Look around Blade Forums. There are several photo posting tutorials.

If you're on a page with a knife you want to show, minimize the page, drag and drop the image you want to your desk top, drag and drop that to any file, and post the picture using the photo hosting site Imgur. Oh, don't forget to give credit for the picture you stole - errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr used.

I guess it's no crime to have more than one 73. Thanks for the encouragement Brett, keep you posted.:D

I can't seem to get this little tablet to copy the pictures. (I only spent $147.00 on this thing at Wal Mart. It's an inexpensive RCA and I'm still learning to navigate this thing on day two!)

As soon as I learn to copy pictures with this thing, I'll do what I can.
