Whatcha got on order ?

I don't really like the particular factory sheath I ordered for my 112 ( turns out to be a 112 auto sheath ) so I decided to try something a bit different instead of just ordering a regular Buck 112 sheath.
I found something nice looking that I liked on Etsy, but It turns out that the maker is from the Ukraine so it's taking quite awhile to get here.

Another Tool order from HJE.

If you're familiar with Harry J Epsteins you know Steve Sackin and his son who own the place, Steve actually just recently died.

I just bought a Savage mk2 and a HI-POINT c9 off of my brother for $200, and will go pick them up from my moms house in a few days.
He's in a bit of a tough spot having to move from his apartment and he needs money so he called me today asking if I would buy his guns off him to help him out.
I only really wanted the Savage, but his fiance has been wanting them gone for awhile anyways so I took both.
I had stored them for him at one time and have shot both so I knew exactly what I was buying.
The Savage has some light surface rust on the barrel and the Crap9 needs a new $5 rear sight, but I was willing to pay a little more than they're worth to help him out.

A new replacement rear sight for that HI-POINT I bought off my brother.
now that it won't have a broken rear sight I can actually trade it or something if I really don't want it.

Another pair of Jeans from Diamond Gussett.

And I ordered a pair of Moldex battle plugs.
For the longest time I've used the old school orange rubber GI ear plugs that my dad gave me multiple pairs of.
They've always worked great, but it's easy to push them in too far.
An incident yesterday was the last straw and I decided it was time for something better.
These were highly recommended, and have everything I was looking for plus some modern advances I never knew existed in earplugs.

I found a used Savage mk2 wood stock on Ebay, and took a gamble on it.
s-l1200.webp
My fingers are crossed hoping that it fits the current mk2's with the updated E receiver.

I contacted Savage and was told " talk to Boyd's, they make our stocks " , but Boyd's told me " we don't make the factory mk2G stock ".
I looked everywhere else and this was my last resort so I took a gamble.
If it fits I'll try my hand at making a trigger guard before maybe buying one ( I've found them available) if necessary, then I'll deal with figuring out a receiver sight that'll fit.

I Ordered a pancake holster for my Ruger SR22 it won’t get here until mid September. I have looked for years for the holster that I wanted craft holster are the only one I found.
I wanted
Wet formed leather
Pancake style forward cant
Thumb break
And left handed.
I spent several hours looking at reviews online and found nothing negative and a lot of positive so I ordered it

Call hipoint they will probably send you the sight for fr
I already ordered and installed one.
I didn't feel right about trying to get one for free since I wasn't there and don't know exactly what happened

I understand that they have a lifetime guarantee, but ultimately it did do exactly what I'd expect a plastic rear sight on a gun this heavy to do.
Warranties are for things that fail in ways you expect them not to.

Many years ago I had one of the Hi-point carbines . I put a scope on it and had to take the front sight off because it interfered with the scope . When I decided to trade it off I took scope off. It has sentimental significance to me. Well I couldn’t find the front sight so I called Hi-point explained to them I had lost the sight and wanted to buy a replacement. They would not let me pay for it.
I used the gun to shoot groundhogs around buildings where I didn’t want them to get back in the hole. I replaced it with a 17HMR

A pair of stock mounting screws from savage for my mk2, and a set of 6-42×3/16 scope mount screws to attach a mount on top for peep sight.
I was going to order the longer stock mounting screws instead of calling savage but I couldn't actually find them online.
all I could find were the standard 1" screws and everybody wanted an arm and a leg even if they had the right ones, I called Savage and wasn't even charged for them.

I have been going back and forth about getting a SAK Explorer because here lately, I think having a magnifier in my pocket would benefit me.

I decided to try a dedicated magnifier instead of buying the whole knife.

I can make room for it in my pockets and if absolutely necessary, it’s just big enough to attach a Nite Ize pocket clip.

My pocket magnifier arrived today and I wanted to do a short review about it.

An unexpected feature is that the light comes on just past the “half stop” position allowing it to be used with or without the light. A nice battery saving feature.

There is no detent to hold it closed but in its new condition there is enough friction in the pivot to hold it closed. Not sure how long that friction will last but it’s good right now.

My pictures don’t show the magnification very well. I took them before I realized that I was holding the lens too close to the subject. Moving the lens farther up increases the magnification plenty large enough that I can read tiny print without my glasses on which was the whole point of buying it.
