What'll be your first knife purchase of 2005?

My next one will be a balisong, probably either a new Benchmade or Spyderco. I picked up a Spyderfly a few months ago and still really like playing around with it. It's also a good looking and handy knife.

Szabofly? BM42? BM4x? I'm hoping on having many well made production balisongs to choose from in '05.

Not sure what to buy this year... I got a Sebbie last year. As a lot of people have discovered, that's either good or bad. Great knife, but curbs the buying appetite :(

I've had my eye on a Spyderco Paramillie for a long time. It'll probably be that, or my first Benchmade... On the other hand, I might go for a CRK One-piece.

Decisions, decisions...

Three knives are in the pipeline, and it's a question of which one gets here first.

Busse FSH.

Ranger Knives custom RD6 in 3V.

Mission MPTS in A2.

Well, I have a BRK&T Highland, a Ed Schempp pocket fixed blade, and a BM 805 TSEK(finally!) on the way. 2 were trades, but...hey...it works for me.

The Skirmish is *awsome* for a big folder. I definatly want a kershaw mini-mojo, and maybe a nice fighter...oh, I dunno, maybe a MercWorx :footinmou

No really, I love the blade shape, and I'm guessing they are cheaper then the equivelant Strider version with the same design.

Believe it or don't, but I don't really have any purchases planned right now. There's a couple specific knives I'm on the lookout for if I happen to catch an auction or sale (notably a Protech/Harkins ATAC 2-tone Jazz).

Instead, I hope to be making a couple knives. I'll be taking a knifemaking class at the community college, and there's 3 knives I want to make (to start): A "perfect" carry balisong with Ti handles, 4" blade, and a pocket clip, a semi-lightweight version of the BM42SS with a 4" blade (slightly smaller, lighter, but heavier than Ti would be), and a 4" bladed Ti handled auto, somewhat Severtech-ish (ie: a big, badass knife).

I do have my eye set on a Spyderco Atlantic Salt (with gaudy yellow handles), and a Szabofly, but those aren't released yet.

Stuck in Kuwait for a bit but am looking into something by Busse. Probably something a bit small, say a 4-5 1/2 inch blade.
I am also eyeballing something from Ferhman knives.
I like the Striders but can decide between fixed or folder. With some of the changes in their folding line I may stick with fixed.

MedOpsPogue

Last year I didn't buy a single new knife! I was unemployed for the later half of 2003 and the recovery has been slow... I did receive a customized hatchet that I ordered the previous year and I was given two SAKs as gifts, but I didn't actually buy anything.

This year is shaping up to be much better. I have four knives on their way to me right now, even though they're mostly from trades. :)

Camillus Maxx Bowie (my second)
Camillus CQB-4
BRK&T Mikro-Canadian in ivory micarta
Spyderco Chinook

I didn't really purchase it, but I got it as a gift from my brother: ProTech Godfather Auto. My first auto, and I love it!

Nice brother!

Welcome to Bladeforums too.

I just purchased the Smith's Precision sharpening set (similar to lansky) because the price was right and im a noob. For actually purchasing a knife, it will probly be one of the Byrd Knives that spyderco is doing, or maybe something else in that range...who knows, i might wait and buy something nicer, or decide that im fine when it comes to knives.
