I find it hard to beat micarta and its cousins for knife handles. It comes in layered forms that give the look you have, but is much more durable and, IMHO, easier to work with. Ultrex micarta in two-color looks great and is pretty foolproof. Or, try some Ultrex Suretough G10 and you will be amazed at how good the grip is plus the look of layered colors. USA Knifemakers and most knife suppliers carry it.

Thanks. I'll take a look. Desert ironwood is my favorite but I don't want to use the same stuff every time.
 
Liberty wood doesn't dent when I push a fingernail into it and is much harder than the others. I've used a few pieces of their original recipe and the newer one is better and less boil sensitive. It's maybe a little nicer than the original diamond wood no longer available, lots nicer than the other modern stuff I have played with.

Current sells AmeraGrip, too, which also is fiberglass/rubber laminate, but more layers of g10, less layers of rubber, lighter, stiffer and brighter colors than SureTouch. Also easier to shape and buff out and less ridges between fiberglass/rubber layers.

Current also makes carbon fiber stacked and marble patterns and custom g10 and micarta camo and pattern mixes too. I've used a lot of cool stuff from them over the past few years! Pops and makers material supply sell a lot of Currents stuff as does Masecraft and other supply houses. Currents burlaps are much more solid and smoother finishing than Norplex burlaps that I have tried.

Where do you get your Liberty Wood? I bought some a couple of years ago from Current Composites, but now can't find a way to order it on their website.

Yeah, sometimes loud handles are cool! They help draw people to my table at the shows!

I made a simple pocket slip for it, but man was this leather a dream to work with. It had good stretch and was very supple.

I bought a single roll of it at the knife show that I went to this weekend and really wish I would’ve bought all the leather she had with her.
