Wow, yep, on the list for another one from you sir for sure!

I got my 2x72 grinder in yesterday. I'm waiting to get the belts in so I can mount the motor & grinder down and space it properly. This is the Oregon Blade Maker grinder that is currently being sold on eBay. I also got my drive wheel from him. The motor I got from DeslersIndustrial on eBay, and they had a deal on a VFD & 1hp Toshiba motor. All told I spent $829 for these items including shipping. I will report back on it's operation when I get it up & running. In the meantime, here is an unboxing video I made.

as far as fit and finish I would have to agree with Nathan I have never seen anything less than perfection from your knives on blade forums and the Joe Paranee project bowie I had the pleasure of holding at Blade show.

Pre heat treat sanding finished on this Alabama Damascus drop point hunter for a buddy of mine. Hopefully this will be the last knife I have to file the bevels on the jig. I'm in the process of assembling my GIB. Got everything ordered. Ordered a 2 hp 3 phase 1800 rpm motor and a KBAC 27D. Just waiting on everything to show up.

I don't currently have any new finished pieces to show, but I definitely have my hands full at the moment.

If anyone has ventured over to the "Sheaths & Such" forum, you might have seen my round knife design evolution and progress.

A batch of 1/8" AEB-L blades that are profiled and ready for bevels before I ship them out.

Thanks for looking,

Loving that round knife. Looks like you have an efficient design that reduces your scrap.

I took back the 8" HF drill press & picked up a 15" Porter Cable floor standing press from Lowes & I must say I LOVE it! Being in the oil & gas industry for over 18 years (well, laid off from it at this point) I have been inundated with safety & I take try to always work safe. The first priority was to ensure that my blades get secured when I need to drill them. I just happened to see the Harbor Freight ViseGrip style work table clamp. It wouldnt work on my work table as it was, but I knew I could adapt it and here's what I came up with. The lower jaw of this clamp has a threaded lug on it that screws into the nut with the ring on it. Well, I cut most of the ring off & turned it into a wing nut looking thing & that works great for keeping the nut from spinning when I slide it into the groove & thread the clamp into it. The one thing I don't like about this device is that you need something about 3/8" thick when the adjustment is all the way in, so you can't clamp directly to a blade, you have to use a block, which honestly is probably for the best anyhow.

I didn't cut it low enough at first & had to cut more off with the HF porta band saw I picked up today as well. (Going to make a stand for it for a low budget metal saw)

I sanded a little flat relief in the wood to catch the blade and also positioned the clamp in the path of the blade if for some reason it did spin free. This seems to hold really tight, but when I can find some T-bolts, I plan on making something better for securing my blades to the drill press. I was drilling out a Russell Green River Dadley kit blade for some corby pins.

Not meaning to sidetrack the thread but I couldn't help but notice this statement and your location. Need to go check out the Mont Belvieu Exxon... Got a huge NAG project going on at the moment Performance Contractors is handling.... Just FYI in case you needed some leads.

I dig that knife! Not sure how I like the stepped milling of the bevel, but aside from that, that looks like a useful tool!

Thank you very much, I'll look into it. I'm a SolidWorks designer, so not sure if that's what they are looking for, but I will look into it.

Now, I need to get off this PC & get back in the garage to wire up my 2x72 grinder!
