Nice, Shane!

I just went and hauled home a 20" Powermatic vertical bandsaw for wood and metal... finished up my forging press finally this week, and squished some steel with it already. Just made a bigger (14") vertical welding forge to heat billets for it, too! Lots of tooling up happening around here.

Any pics of the press (or video :) ) you would care to share?

Hey Peter, that's amazing work. Nice grinds! I like the machined/inserted quillons too, haven't seen that done a whole lot.

Maelstrom, when I get that bandsaw off the trailer and into the shop, and clean up a little to boot, I'll post some pics. Keep an eye out!

Thanks Chris and Salem, appreciate your comments guys.

In case anyone is wondering, the quillons screw together. Also the red stuff didn't come out of me, it's coloured epoxy.

Very cool! I did one a bit like that a couple years ago, but actually threaded the bolster itself... your way looks less stressful!

Salem, that's pretty awesome, how'd you manage to get the thread cut so that the quillions match each time you take 'em off and on?

Very cool piece Salem. I was in two minds and decided to go with the internal thread. Seeing yours has got me thinking of redoing them longer and bending them down, looks much better.

I cut the threads on the lathe, with everything straight... then screwed them tight into the bolster, and hot bent them with a torch and a fiddly jig that didn't work all that well. I was quite nervous about ruining those quillons or getting the fit wrong. It turned out well though, although of course each one only fits its own side.

I don't know that it looks better Peter, just a different look...different knife. I like seeing other makers who think along some of the same lines as me! I like your keyhole type concept in conjunction with the threaded quillons, very cool.

Great looking stuff guys. Those daggers are incredible.

I just got my first etcher this week and my stencils should be here in the next day or so. Also got a custom leather stamp ordered that should be here any day now. It feels kind of official now. No more stamping initials in blades or sheaths for me.

I posted the first knife for sale on BF the other day. It was a small fixed blade swayback in black micarta with green g10 liners. I got a bunch of requests for more of them so I'm making my first "batch" of knives now. Since I just got a new 2x72 grinder it's not quite so overwhelming to do more than 1 at a time now and I've never made more than 1 or two at a time previously. This time I've got 8 in the works. 6 small pocket fixed blades in 01 and various combos of micarta and G10 and maybe 1 will get some natural wood scales. I'm doing one in Terotuf which will be my first time to work with that material too. My first kitchen knife(a Nakiri w/blackwood) and a camp knife in tiger maple and 1084 that I've officially named the Forrest Ranger(my first named knife lol). My last name is Forrest aren't I clever;)

I have no forge (my shop is on a 5th floor downtown Buenos Aires), so I asked a friend if he can weld a low layer count damascus billet, he did on a 125kg power hammer (Beche, huge french iron) out of it came out these two blades.

They still need some work.

We are in the midst of a full-blown blizzard here on Cape Breton, so I've sought refuge in my cozy shop for the expected day and a half, 50cm deluge.

Here's a few blades in varying states of doneness(is that a word?). The piece in the center is 1070 steel and will be another style-fusion design with some funky carving on the blade heel, the one to its left is a 1084 rough and rugged "mountain man" knife, and three forged 52100 kitchen blades. I'm currently working on the two culinary blades on the right.

Lately in the shop, this:

Became these:

The chefs knife is 3/16" thick and needs to be 3/32" thick, so still a lot of grinding to do before heat-treating...

Btw, it looks like he is making a new adjustable tool rest so if anyone gets one I'd love to hear how it works.

I got it in and had a look at it. Getting over some sinus crud so still haven't mounted the grinder & motor yet but should get to it tomorrow or Tuesday. The rest seems pretty interesting but it's not very wide.

Love this thread! Eye candy for hours  :D

Well I have been member here for quite a while now, and for some reason I don't think I've ever posted any pics of my work  So I figure this might be a good time to start! So this is a blade I have just about finished up, but it still needs an edge, a bit a clean up on the finish and a kydex sheath.

This one is in the style of a Murray Carter neck knife. His work has been a big inspiration to me for years now and I have made a number blades in the style to date.

Some quick specs..

- .110" thick 52100 from Aldo (of course) ;)
- Black G10 scales
- Orange G10 liners
- 600 grit hand rubbed finish

Ok, If you post it here I feel you may be looking for comments. If not please ignore! I love the overall shape of your knife. What I do not like is the shape of the front of the scales. I know it is a design interpretation, but it doesn't fit for me. Everything else looks great! Jess

Comments are deffinitely welcome, just thought I'd post what I'm working on at the moment like everybody else :) . Regarding the front of the scales, I didn't mean to grind quite that much off the top part of the angle, but it just kinda happened (you know how it goes ;) ) so I just evened them up with eachother and went with it lol. But thanks a bunch man, that means a lot! :)
