Love this thread! Eye candy for hours  :D

Well I have been member here for quite a while now, and for some reason I don't think I've ever posted any pics of my work  So I figure this might be a good time to start! So this is a blade I have just about finished up, but it still needs an edge, a bit a clean up on the finish and a kydex sheath.

This one is in the style of a Murray Carter neck knife. His work has been a big inspiration to me for years now and I have made a number blades in the style to date.

Some quick specs..

- .110" thick 52100 from Aldo (of course) ;)
- Black G10 scales
- Orange G10 liners
- 600 grit hand rubbed finish

That really speaks to me. Super nice!

Not in the shop per se... But headed to Haas tech and just noticed Rick Hinderer is on my flight.
What to talk about, Knives or CNCs!

Thanks PT Doc! :)

Paul, I like that knife a lot... it's very sleek!

Thanks Salem! I really enjoy how sleek your knives are as well, even the BIG ones look like they'd be really fast and comfortable in hand. :)

That's awesome man, I would love to get ahold of the real deal someday also.. closest I've been to one is my laptop screen :D ..
And please share your blade when finished, I always love to see the way other makers interpret and incorperate Murray's neck knives into their own
And Thanks! :)

Nick, can't tell you how much that means to me brother... :tickled_pink: ;) I've really learned so much from your WIPs and YT vids, a BIG one would be proper hand sanding techniques, which was of course applied on this blade. Btw, that koa fighter is insanley beautiful!!! How many more of those Joe P's do you have to finish up?

If that wasn't the intended scale profile, it was a beautiful accident! This is a knife I would be trying to buy if I was gainfully employed (darn oil bust). I love the color combo as well. Thanks for sharing.

Haha! It pretty much was the intended profile, when I said I didn't mean to take "quite" as much off that top angle, I'm talkin about maybe 1mm lol
And no, thank You for the compliment ;)

Beautiful knife. I've been thinking of doing something similar.

Man I never expected this many comments, especially with all the other great work shown! Thank you! And I say, do it man! :D

I picked up a Heritage .22 revolver for $99 at Academy on black Friday and it can n e with cheap white plastic grips, I had the same plan to make something custom for it, but I was thinking of using some Texas Ebony or Bois d' arc (osage orange). Never thought of using some type of horn.

Coldsteelburns, that knife is hot! Top notch work and I love the style. Thanks for the kind words and encouragement, I posted this latest one in Customs and Handmade. :D

Hi guys new to the forum and also knife making. I started playing around with steel when I was about 14 and have evolved into forging my own blades and getting into some Blacksmithing. I've only made about 5 knives but have been improving with every blade. Just wanted to post a work in progress where I'm making the handle. I'm happy with how it's turning out and I'm sure my brother will be more than pleased.

It's made from O1 tool steel and the handle is made from black walnut, cocobolo, and quilted maple.

Just finished up the first in my batch of knives I've been working on. Hopefully I can knock out a couple of more this weekend. I really enjoy making these small fixed blades much more than making larger knives. I think I'm going to start figuring out how to make folders. Maybe a friction folder first and then a slip joint.

Anyway here are a few pics of this one. I must say this is my favorite knife I've made so far. O1, micarta and G10. 5.75" OAL.

Now for the daunting task of etching my name on this one. I just got my etcher and my stencils and I've been practicing but the results have been inconsistent to say the least and I'm afraid of screwing this knife up with a bad etch.

My latest tool addition. This is a late 50's Craftsman 150. Was a bit rough when I got it, but not too bad. I love bringing these old things back to life. :)

Brock47, I love your resto on that old Craftsman. I'm not sure yellow would have been my color selection, but I really love old machines & can appreciate it regardless of color! Great job! I have 1953 "Greenie" ShopSmith I'm going to restore when I get some free time & money. I didn't even know what a Shopsmith was until a couple of months ago. I stumbled upon one on CL when searching for an inexpensive bandsaw & got it for trading a pallet of bricks! It's an interesting machine to say the least.

That is a handsome knife, it turned out great. I really love a sheepsfoot blade & always wished I had a fixed blade one when I was growing up. I always whittled wood with my sheepsfoot blade on my old Schrade & Camillus 2 & 3 blade folders back in the late 70's & 80's & longed for a more comfortable grip & a more rigid blade. I also like the combination of the scale colors. I have some of those in my 'saved cart' from one of the knife supply online stores. One of my first 3 designs is a sheepsfoot fixed blade!

I too, need to figure out the etching. Did you get a professional etcher or do a DIY one? If DIY, did you do both AC & DC? I'm unemployed so building one is more appealing that buying one for me right now. I think I may also check with some other local businesses that do engraving to see if I can work out some sort of deal to let them professionally engrave all my work for a reasonably low price. I'll decide that later once I figure out if I can get a clean etch or not once I build an etcher since I have lots of random power adapters to use for the cause. The knife supply place I'm shopping at has some pre-made stencils for etching the material type so I'll pick up one of those before paying to have mine made & determine if I want to bother with the etching or consider just outsourcing it to a local.

Here's a work in progress fillet knife for a friend of mine I've known since 1984 when we were in jr. high together.

I had a problem with the counterbore for one of the corby's; the bit wasn't chucked correctly & it wobbled out the hole slightly. I'm not sure if I just need to make a new scale, or if I can mix in some of the sanding dust from the scale with epoxy & fill it in. Anyone have any input on this? See below image; the middle corby hole is wallowed out while the other 2 have interference fits.
