Well, if you want to make things flat, I need that a lot for the folders I make, it sure helps especially if like me you don't have a surface grinder.

Good to get another off the bench

This is a nice knife.

yes for real flats is needed a flat disk. I'm talking about flat mating surfaces especially. For "flat" bevels, the super-slight concave flats the tapered disk places it's almost unnoticeable.

Small "fusion" Santoku, fusion because it has western grind and handle. 130mm (5.1") blade lenght. Handle and liners in paper micarta

I'm trying to get some knives ready for the OKCA show in Eugene. Last week I started with 28 in various stages. 3 are finished. This is one. Jess

7.5 overall. 4 inch blade. CPM-154 @ 61. Natural g10 over blue liners with black micarta pins. First time working with g10 on a belt grinder and WOW is it so much easier than micarta. Doesn't burn near as easy, grinds easier, and doesn't clog the belts. Loving the natural over a liner, definitely going to be exploring this more in depth.

Hardened, the interesting part is the other blade, first time I use this steel, Uddeholm Vanadis 4 Extra, after hardening it measured 67RC still need to finish the tempering for the final reading. Also first finished knife with a hollow grind, the sheet was 5mm (3/16ish) and a flat bevel would be inadecuate IMHO, it came out really well. This one will be my new personal knife, until someone (again) put enough money on the table :) :)

I have a few pieces on the go at the moment.

This is a chef's knife, now almost done.

And, this is the blade collar...:

....and, soon to be, guard for another piece. This is a chunk of wrought iron forged down from a large anchor chain link.

Christodart, that is cool!

Nice work everyone!!!

CPM-3V Kwaikens in progress...

Here's one for scales... I garnet blast the tang for best epoxy adhesion. The 3V is so wear resistant i had to crank up my blast pressure and time considerably.

Time for glue up! 2 acid washed and one in satin.

Prepping and glueing up stingray skin... this stuff is hard to cut! These get wraps next.

Just wrapped and almost ready for glue up. I have 9 knives curing now!

Finishing up a big batch of paring knives for our show this weekend! Also doing a few chef's knives shown in a sub zero quench. We had some dry ice left over so I had some fun with it at home (third photo)

I love how that turned out. I was wondering what putting an opaque color liner behind some of that translucent phenolic sheet would look like.

Thanks for giving me more reasons to want a larger compressor & blast cabinet! :) Ugh, not enough room in my garage but I may have to MAKE room....need to get some knives built & sold to fund it though....I've been wanting a cabinet for preparing parts for Duracoat coating, more for my gun hobby than knives, but seeing that I could also Duracoat knives, and use it for a good surface prep for scale adhesives, I may have to move a compressor & cabinet up on my list!
