Pablo, where do you find all these colors of paper micarta? I can only find a few solid colors. I like the ivory. I don't want real drastic color differences, but I do want some grain to show. Will it show in solid colors?

Matt, I have them made for me here in Argentina, this micarta is made so it has a layered affect, for example a 7mm board (0.275") has around 80 sheets of alternating colors paper. It can be made in solid colors too, but it won't show the grain. Solid black paper micarta looks almost identical to water buffalo when polished.

I'm still hoping that North Arm Knives will give me his method and procedure for satin finishing blades. Thanks.
Frank

Got do do a little hand sanding and these two will be ready for handles. The smaller one is for a young lady that's graduating college. Congrats to her.

Thanks Daniel. I'm going to get me one of those pads and see what happens.
Frank

I would be interested in your results, his finish seems to be very nice for something like S30VN but I'm guessing the 600 grit scratchless is the main work horse for the finish....but I haven't tried it so what do I know.

i mean to say the way to heating the blade ??

I'm using a propane forge I designed to heat only the edge(kind of like using a A/O torch except I don't have one yet) then I quench full quench them. If you would like more information I could send you an email.

PEU, Klingspor Sandflex blocks are the original and I love mine. I have been using them for a long time.

Dang this place... Between this forum and Amazon One-Click and same day delivery... every time I read a thread, I see something else I "need"!!!

...and all from my phone while enjoying my Sunday morning coffee on the patio!

A look at some of the forged work I plan to have on my table in Atlanta. Still need to do tactical tomahawks and mid-tech fixed blades, too.

Look forward to seeing you there, James. I did not get a table this year so I can get around a bit better. First chocolate milk is on me, brother.

I like that long tanto looking jobbie in the back.

Did a bit more work on the khuk variant.

Post-HT grinding with 36-grit Bora-7 belt. This is my last Bora-7 belt... and I can't say I'll be sad to see it go.

Scratch marks from the belt, with the start of some other scratchy marks from the disc. The disc will be especially handy for refining the tip.

The beginning of hand-sanding. I usually start right about P120-grit. The first grit is the gnarliest. I'll use a rigid sanding stick (no backing) to really nail down the flats. First grit takes the longest (by far).

Next grit... P280 with dense, cork backer on sanding stick.

Taking a step away from the khuk...
... my Kydex rivet dies came in from Tracy the other day, so I decide to spend some time upgrading my old arbor press into a rivet press.

Up next, I either get back to the khuck (more polishing, setting shoulders for guard/ferrule, etc) OR work on my last two mini-kwaiken-type things (which will all be getting kydex pants... a first for me).
