Not a knife maker yet. I've been making some knife handle material for ANZA knives San Diego CA. lots of fun.
Stabilized maple burl / birdseye...kinda weird wood. "skinner"

I just finished up a little pocket-sized bowie, from scraps that were laying around the shop. Steel is S35VN, with a stag handle, and brass guard. Only 5" OAL.

Looks like some very good grinding. Good for you! I don't like those since I don't see true function or beauty, but I do see the need for ability in the making. Many others do , however. Amazing how many good things you get to recognize as being special even on something that to begin with never seemed was interesting.

Totally agree, wouldn't personally use one over a FFG any day but I don't mind delving in to market trends and shifts just fir aesthetics. No shame? Morals? I don't know lol

Jokery aside it was very nerveracking to complete and very accomplishing as well. I have a hard enough time lining up one set of plunge lines freehand let alone two hahaha

My heart will always be with the FFG wharncliffe :) Thank you for the kind words by the way!

That's really cool Rick. Makes me want to start collecting knives.

Agreed with Nathan. That looks fantastic Rick.

Can I ask why the 5160? I thought you preferred 1084

I recently came into a local source for 5160. Big stuff. I was able to get certs from the manufacturer, so I know what I am dealing with. I started my knifemaking using 5160 and am very familiar with how to work and heat treat it. Great stuff for choppers and swords.

Forgot about this one. This was a Christmas present. 416 SS bolsters and fittings. Stabilized maple handle. 52100 blade. When rubbing wax on the blade to protect it from rust I realized it was plenty sharp after wondering where all that blood on the blade was coming from.

Whew! Beautiful knife, Jimmy!

Cool. Thank you for the explanation. That's why I was curious...I knew you had started with it. Agreed that it is great for the big stuff especially!

Thank you again.
