I've picked up a few small new tools to help make life easier for me....

123 blocks immediately made my sucky drill press not suck so bad. Incredible!

New tool rest with adjustable angle guide. Helps get everything even for handle scale glue up.

And a couple of new knives I've finished in the last couple of days. My new pocket pukko with Shadetree herringbone and a spearpoint with an exposed lanyard hole. I changed how I did the lanyard hole so that I could get a bigger handle into the same knife outline I did before. Both are about 6.25" OAL.

Here's a leather sheath and belt for an order that I just finished up. The order also included 4 knives, but I haven't photographed them all yet.

Here's the santoku from the group, being put through its paces.

Here are the knives together. They are all made exactly to the customer's specs. They are all in S35VN, stonewashed, with highly figured maple handles and brass liners.

(The santoku is my favorite of the group).

These are all very nice. Great lines in blade and handle. I am curious: Are the brass liners just for eye appeal?

Nice set shane! What is the tang thickness on the chef's knife?

cheers,
mike

Thanks guys. The brass was upon the customer's request. He wanted the liners to match the pins.

The chefs knife is 5/32 thick with radical distal taper. Not my choice to go that thick. It's more like a butchers knife. I also wanted to do a plungeless grind, but the customer requested the plunge line with sharpening notch.

Contract work; grinding a bunch of blades for another maker/designer, to his specs.

I admit, I'm not super thrilled about working on stuff that will bear someone else's name, but hey... the check cleared. ;) I work, my bills get paid... that's how it works. No complaints.

It's also sort of gratifying to even be asked to do that kinda work, by a maker who's pretty well-known for his quality blades. So, there's that.

Spent an hour or two this morning drilling and profiling. These two seem to be a popular design in 440c so why not try some cpm154?

Thanks Aaron!

More of the RF1...

I just applied some carbide to these Darriel Caston SquareHead folders. These blades are all Ti and even cooler looking in person!
