Thanks guys :)

I got two of them almost ready for HT before Thanksgiving #3 this evening.

I only got a motor mostly scraped and repainted, a hammer modification, and then I cleaned up. I also took photos of some old packaging I thought was cool.

This motor will go under the table of my 10L lathe when its done. I still have to repair the brush ring and make/ find new brushes.

Are those old cratex bullets still good Ron? Very cool. Love the old motor--- good on you for restoring all these old tools that deserve to live on! :)

Looking good Ian. That vacuum forming leather press is very slick.

I've been working on several projects, but this one is almost done. It's a fancied up version of my little combat fighters. Was doming the ss pin in the Masur Birch handle. :)

Ron, I agree, cool looking packaging. My SB collet set came in the original packaging. Nice looking individual plastic containers with the SB brand. They did have a sense of style back then.

Nick, looking good. I sure would like to be able to do such a nice handle finish (well such a nice "everything" finish :o). Looks like a CA finish which I am pretty sure it is not.

Nick, you make the coolest jigs and fixtures.

Here is my latest attempt lol I really need to get a buffer for finishing. overall I'm pretty happy with it though.

Very cool stuff!!

Nick, that doming fixture is that KATS MEOOOW!:thumbup:

Ben, see you this weekend at the mini!

There's some really fancy stuff here, which makes me kind of embarrassed to even consider adding what's going on in my "shop"... but I will anyway.

I've had a slow year with having another kid and balancing family and work with garage time (which also entails maintenance of my dirt bikes, but their numbers are dwindling).

Anyway, I've just finished these out of O1 and G-10...

They're all sold (which are the first things I've ever sold), which is kind of awesome. I didn't make much, if anything off of them. At this point, that isn't as important as making enough money to make more and learn.

I have these back from heat treat now also. There are 27 of them. So that should give me some time on the grinder to practice. Well, that is after I replace the bearings in the idler wheel on my Coote grinder since one of them is bad.

Other than family and work, one of my biggest issues is finishing knives I've got in line to be made. I work midnights and spend a lot of time drawing designs between calls and get super excited about the new designs when I have a pile of older designs that need to be ground and finished. I spend more time making mock ups and testing new handle designs than actually building knives it seems.

Anyway, that's an unimportant and meager shop update from a new guy that still has a ton to learn.

Those are some sweet looking designs. How did you grind the beard underside of your axe's? Did you do that by hand or can you get in there with a belt grinder?

I actually use a spindle sander to get the inside of the beard. It works well, but goes through sleeves pretty quickly.

overall length = 13 1/2

I was so hoping that was going to look like an old Marbles Ideal hunter when you were done. :D Very nice blade profile on that in my eyes.

I have been busy at work getting a vertical forge together. I have been having trouble getting my horizontal forge up to welding temps it runs off venturi burners. I hooked a thermocouple up to it and was only getting up to 2080. After talking to a couple of people I talked to Don Hanson who was nice enough to give me measurements and pics of his two forges. Also Don gave me pics and specs of his blown burner. Thanks again Don I really do appreciate all the help. I have it almost done now and the blower from Kayne and Sons will be here on Thursday. I had the scroll hanging on the wall for a while. I picked it up at the local scrap yard and I thought it would look good as a handle for the lid. I will get some action shots as she comes to life. Thanks for looking. -Burton

Very nice handle layout Mr. McKinley. I think it will look good on that pattern blade too. Nice accents.
