I re watched the Wheeler handle shaping videos for the Joe Bowies. I did this handle just today and Whoa Nelly! It feels awesome! Just used the slack belt and my 3/4" small wheel horizontally and then hand sanded and buffed. It feels amazing. I'ts so good I don't want to give it away but I promised it to someone for LAST Christmas so I guess I have to :)

I have another of the exact blade so I am going to do one for myself though.

Anyway, taking the time to go through those videos helped me a lot.

- edit - that front pin is not low, looks weird with my finger there or the camera angle or something.

Looks like your knife is wearing a tuxedo. Would be a great wedding cake knife.

Kitchen knife made of Sandvik 14C28N stainless steel, the oxide pattern that formed inside the foil envelope came out so nice I decided not to polish the blade and leave it as it is. Wood is Retamo

Maelstrom is that material as white as it looks in the photo? If so what is it? I'm looking for something white for handle material.

Yes it is pure white. It's countertop material a guy who did some cabinetry work for us dropped it off. He said it was from the Formica company and I believe it is Corian. Some guys don't like it they think that it chips and that it's heavy. When it's in a big half inch chunk and there's two of them one on each side it indeed is heavy. But once I carved it away and made a nice svelt handle it doesn't seem heavier than micarta to me. I've dropped them a few times and they have not chipped. Your mileage may vary but I don't have any concerns about using it.

It also shapes easily and you can really carve into it without burning the material.

You can get some here too.
