Man...You guys are putting out some really nice kitchen knives!
Just a couple this week and one from last time..

I have been busy at the bandsaw! This is about 110 blocks and scales I cut out, its a mix of old growth Cocobolo "including the 2.5 by 1.125 bowie block!", kingwood, burmese blackwood, ebony and Lignium vitae!

Im getting my dealers membership soon, but anyone in the SOCAL area is more than welcome to come by and see what I have. This is about 20% of what I have, along with the 50 or so old growth redwood burl blocks that are at K&G right now

Get that new membership SOON because some of us are also rosewood fanatics. :D

I use a few. When im cutting up big slabs or REALLY hard wood, I use a lenox trimaster carbide blade. When I need a thinner kerf or am cutting questionable material "like the old growth madrone burls pulled from a river im gettting in hint hint hint" I use a Timberwolf Swedish steel blade. If you buy them buy them from the timberwolf website. By far the best price there

Just finished this for a friend.

Last week I sent over some drawings to a waterjet cutter for a quote. Today I picked up the pieces. I have a bunch of folders to make for Christmas presents for the men in my family. This will allow me to get them done. Accounting for the water jet kerf I altered my drawings, left all the 2-56 holes as pierce cuts, kept the pin and pivot undersized. Everything came out perfect. I just need to smooth out the pin track. I timed it as I did one liner, I drilled reamed and tapped all holes and it took 4 minutes with tool changes on the drill press. By the time I'd profile, drill, and tap a liner before, I had wasted a half a day. To me it's well worth the $2.97 to cut each liner. Figure the cost of bandsaw blades, slitting saws, etc.

I was able to get 2 blades out of a small piece of hitachi blue with 410 clad San Mai from HHH. I'm glad I chose waterjet as that hitachi is really freaking hard. While drilling the pivot, it went right through the stainless on each side but just laughed at the bit on the blue. I had to break out a masonry bit.

Where are you having them cut? I like the design!

One of the latest off my bench:

The Tipover Lake Belt Froe (aka Froezen, thanks to my 7 yr old daughter)

Blade: 7 1/4" x +3/16" of Aldo's 1084, flat ground with 600 grit hand sanded bevels, and polished forge finish flats.
Handle: Ebony, Thuya burl, and moose skull bone, with one peened copper pin.
Sheath: 6/7 oz veg tanned leather with a hand-turned moose antler stud.

Here's a few quick shots.

Please let me know what you think.

Thanks,

Peter
