Just got this one done...
A Sodbuster Mini
It seemed the junior sodbuster was just a little to big for me to carry everyday in the pocket.
So I thought I would down size it a bit and thin it out.

Here it is next to a junior sodbuster I made last week.
This is now my forth slippy and totally addicted to them.
OAL 5 7/8"
Closed 3 5/16
Dark Green G10
3/32" 01 steel
Half stop
Flush in all positions
Relieved liners

Done on a 2x 42 craftsman
You seem to have the slippys down, I love the sod buster profile. I need to try and make one. Those are looking great.

Nice looking knife. I really like Walnut. Was the wood stabilized or how did you finish it?
Thank you! Yes I had K&G stabilize it. I finished it with Danish Oil. It finished a bit lighter than it shows in the picture. Must be my shop lighting.

First time I've tried to mill the bevels into the blade. It worked surprisingly well once I figured out a good way of securing the blade to my fixture plate. I'll still free hand grind the bevel and swedge, but this gets my bevels established.

That looks cool. I'd be tempted to leave it like that. And of course add an edge to it.

Thanks! The thought had crossed my mind. Unfortunately the edge is still pretty thick, in the .030 range. Not sure if I could mill it much thinner without vibration at the edge messing up the finish. Both Nathan and Aaron have come up with elegant solutions to that problem of milling thin edges. Maybe I'll have to study their solutions more.

I wrapped these up just in time for Christmas. A chef's knife, a pair of matching edc's and a skinning knife.

The cell phone camera looks kind of crappy when the pictures blown up, but the new Nikon DSLR I bought for Christmas will fix that probelm :)

Those skinners and sheaths are nice!

Just finished this one. First time using canvas mycarta and G-10 liners. Also a first trying a hidden lanyard hole. HF 1x30 belt grinder.

My first hunter / skinner, first sheath, and first CA glue finish. I like CA so far on ironwood. Interesting finish.
