What's going on in your shop? Show us whats going on, and talk a bit about your work!

I finished a hunting knife. Used a lower quality paper micarta I got for free and hated the way it finished so I attempted my first tsukamaki wrap. Turned out decent, next time I think I know what to do differently to keep the diamonds tighter. The knife performed well though!

Some nice looking blades.

Well you all know whats going on in my garage ..... not a damn thing. The wife took off for a few days with the baby so that means time to work on the house. Pulling up the linoleum that is probably 30 years old in the kitchen and replacing with tile. Every time I do tile work I say I dont want to do any more of it then I forget how a pain it is and decide to do some more. Ahh well. Should look good when I am done.

I boogered up one handle really bad, so that's being redone. Here are two that are completed (aside from cleaning and sheaths). It's dark at night and I don't have my light setup anymore, so better pictures will have to wait for a while.

Not much new. I am still working on my first two knives. :D hahaha.

But I did get the dial and handle fit to the Y-axis on my mill. I was using vise grips without any indication before. :(

Will do, thanks. Do they have a liner in them?

No, they don't. I have been wearing them as long as I can remember so I am quite used to them.
They are great. Cool in the summer and warm in the winter. I even wear them at work when it gets very cold. ( Construction and concrete)

Well I thought I would add to this interesting thread.
About 5 years ago probably longer a very large tree needed to be removed because the roots were lifting the floor in a corner of my shop. I don't have a fireplace and I wanted to use the wood as the tree had a bit of sentimental value as it was on my grandparents property before I bought the place. Maple is a nice wood but spalted maple is one of my favorites so I had it cut in 2 foot lenghts and I laid it in a field in my back yard for years to let it spalt. The last 3 years in the fall I cut some more and the shop fills up with rotting wood, every color of fungus and lots of dust and bugs from the wood. so I have included pictures of the wood in different stages of completion. There is much more not in the pictures and I have sold some.Well I got what I wanted and a lot more.

Looks like you have a good supply. Now you need to get it stabilized if you have not already. Those darn bugs will continue boring holes in the stuff even on your shelves.

Needed some soft jaw pliers. I had a pair with leather protecting the jaws but that did not last long. It seemed easy enough to do myself, plus I am a cheap. ;)

I am getting to a point where I don't build as many tools/fixtures as I use to but buy them. The little time I have is better spent working on knives. But when it only takes about 10 minutes to make, why not? Right?

Patrice: what did you use for the jaws? Some type of plastic?

Jetzler: that is an impressive amount of spalted maple. And looks to be very interesting patterns.
