Agreed about that blade Pablo. Too sexy to cut simple BBQ... Filet Mignon or nothing at all!

Very nice. And I have a thing lately with the subtle even transition San Mai's. Carbon migration lines and all....

And Daniel. Is that jute under the paracord on top? Love the folder BTW. Looks like the original (DuPont?) micarta from back in the day.

Cool.

Scored a Deckel G1L Pantograph for a super cheap price. Just needs a good clean/checkup. Missing collets and it needs a new power cable. But other then that it's in pretty good shape.

If anyone got any tips or anything let me know :)

Just starting to convert my BS surface grinder to belts. It will be able to return to stones. Got the new contact wheel on, now for the welding stuff.

Thanks. They are from Holstersmith. (knifekits.com too I think...) I used a matching Ti pivot tube and capped both ends with em. The pivot tube had a grease groove in it so I was able to get it solidly mounted in the leather and kydex of the sheath. Makes it feel kind of 'mechanical?' They had 3 styles in both black and silver. I'd like to see them expand those some. I have some torx chi screws at the house and may see what I can do to them on the mill...

Run away from it... Far far away... J/k
I just sold my Gorton P1-2. Alternatively had a 3d model in parts. The P1-2 was fun to learn to use. Brass letter sets are hard to find... But you can usually find stencils here and there in plastic that you can convert to brass if you have the patience. Make sure the belts are all good... And the tension mechanism can be a pain to fiddle with. I ended up changing out the belt setup on mine for a dedicated spindle motor and a sort of short z-axis mechanism to raise and lower the head.

Engraving with a manual pantograph is kind of a dying art form. And I'm glad I learned how to.... But selling my soul and going cnc has saved me a bunch of time.

An odd thing. When we were unloading my second Gorton right after we got it, I had an incident unloading it. I had the whole 600# of the thing on a dolly leaned back. When it tipped forward I didn't see the tracing arm and follower sticking through the back of the dolly. It caught me right in the privates, giving me a 13 stitch injury to that region. Those things are Evil

Cheers. Good on ya for diving into it though...

I've probably done more than 200 Cv axle / joint replacements in my life conservatively and never had one this hard to replace. Had to cut the frame in order to get the differential out with one cv axle still in place to remove the front differential. Cut and weld some steel in order to utilize a hydronic jack to pull the inner joint from the differential. If I had 4 more feet of wire I'd probably be done but fell short on 2 welds. A typical 2 hour $100 dollar job has turned into a 1k$+ job.

I have seen harpoon point knives become somewhat popular and I wanted to make one. This is CPM 154 with nickel silver bolsters and amboyna wood. Larry
