What steel did you make the blade out of?

I've been experimenting with blade finishes and I'm pretty happy with how this one ended up. Not quite done yet but is getting close.![]()

Thanks! It's been pretty popular. Unfortunately it's my least favorite to grind lol.I really like that shape man!

Thanks Stacy I really appreciate the feedback. As a new guy I really try to soak up any advice you guys offer. To be honest the handle was a compromise between them wanting all resin and me wanting to use wood. I agree though, it may have flowed a little better not being split into thirds.I like the shape, too. It is one of the few cases where the thumb ramp actually has a purpose. I also like that the choil is properly placed. I think there is such a thing as doing too much on a handle. Not that it looks bad, but it may have looked "cleaner" with the acrylic only in the front.
We purchased a leather sewing machine this year. My hands are getting stiff and the new machine makes the process much easier. We bought one of the Cowboy 4500 leather sewing machines. It is driven by a servo VS motor and will sew 1 inch leather. We put it in the house and not the shop so we can keep the works clean.

Finally got the time to build a new, improved, heavier grinder. Then I thought, well, 2 is 1 and one is none right? Everything in these is 3/8" grade 50 plate. They're welded up now using 1.5" tube as tool arms but I may go to 1.5" barstock. I'll post more I get them set up. And after some tweaks to the dimensioning I'll make prints and dxf files available for anyone who wants to build their own.
