Well, I could if you like but it's just my porch for the photos. I sometimes use a light tent but these were just taken on the porch in the morning light, pretty low fuss it's just takes practice I suppose. These aren't edited much either. I have played around with it some and I've gotten better at photos for sure. I took these pictures with a a D3300 Nikon(entry level DSLR) which helps some too

Well nice work then Daniel. :)

To all the new makers out there this shows how much you can improve in 18 months. The pictures don't do the differences justice. The overall fit and finish are light years better and so is the handle shape. The bottom is insanely thin and slices great so as far as function goes it's still a great knife but as far as astetics go not so much. Keep practicing and be patient and it will come. I still have a long way to go though!

Here are a few that I just finished. Some full tang Puukkos, and a small wharncliff EDC.

Still working out a few kinks on my Scandi grinds before I'll be %100 satisfied with how they look, but the performance is where it should be.
Wishing I had saved the brown micarta for a different knife since that was the last bit I had and it's been out of stock for awhile now.

Matt,
Let me share something with you. When I had been making knive for about 5 years.
I had a bit of an Ugly Ducking so to speak like your comment you had about the bottom one, I went to a show and almost didn't put it on the table.

It was the first one sold and they man ordered another just like it! LOL Let the customer decide!

Managed to get a lot of shop time in this weekend. Still need to put edges on all these but it feels good to make some progress.

I agree I'm just saying how much better the overall fit and finish can be in just a year or so. Also how much better the handle shape feels and all the little details.

I'm on another chef's knife this one is a gift for my aunt and uncle's anniversary.

I just wanted to express my absolute hatred for the craftsman 2x42. This may be the frustration talking but I really do hate using it. The tracking is crap I just destroyed my plunge line due to the belt sliding off the platen. (Tried taping the tracking wheel) I can't make more than 2 passes without burning the snot out of my fingers. I admire the guys that can make this thing work day to day and turn out good knives.
OK enough ranting, big TM that chef knife looks great!
What grit did you take it to?

Hello everyone,

It's been a while since I posted anything here on blade forums.
I've been busy building my 2x72. So I wanted to share it with you.
Here it is.

And the 2 new knives I started working on.

Cheers!

Invest in a file guide or make one yourself. Right after a grinder it is the next thing everyone should buy IMO. I got an awesome one from Bruce Bump with carbide inserts.

You can make sacrificial ones out of mild steel. I have even heard of folks supergluing sacrificial pieces of mild steel to the sides where they want their plunges to be.

Pass-dip-pass-dip-pass-dip :)

I had some luck with a spray bottle of water spraying the belt while doing passes when I used a 2x42. Poor man's wet grinding!

Bruce's file guide is definitely on my short list that thing is SWEET! I'll try that water bottle trick . Yeah the pass-dip-pass-dip sucks. Things go bad with a quickness
