Well, I could if you like but it's just my porch for the photos. I sometimes use a light tent but these were just taken on the porch in the morning light, pretty low fuss it's just takes practice I suppose. These aren't edited much either. I have played around with it some and I've gotten better at photos for sure. I took these pictures with a a D3300 Nikon(entry level DSLR) which helps some too
Nice work! Impressive
To all the new makers out there this shows how much you can improve in 18 months. The pictures don't do the differences justice. The overall fit and finish are light years better and so is the handle shape. The bottom is insanely thin and slices great so as far as function goes it's still a great knife but as far as astetics go not so much. Keep practicing and be patient and it will come. I still have a long way to go though!![]()
Nice work! Impressive
I agree I'm just saying how much better the overall fit and finish can be in just a year or so. Also how much better the handle shape feels and all the little details.Matt,
Let me share something with you. When I had been making knive for about 5 years.
I had a bit of an Ugly Ducking so to speak like your comment you had about the bottom one, I went to a show and almost didn't put it on the table.
It was the first one sold and they man ordered another just like it! LOL Let the customer decide!
What a fantastic piece. I want to learn slipjoints so bad.
Invest in a file guide or make one yourself. Right after a grinder it is the next thing everyone should buy IMO. I got an awesome one from Bruce Bump with carbide inserts.
You can make sacrificial ones out of mild steel. I have even heard of folks supergluing sacrificial pieces of mild steel to the sides where they want their plunges to be.
Pass-dip-pass-dip-pass-dip
I had some luck with a spray bottle of water spraying the belt while doing passes when I used a 2x42. Poor man's wet grinding!
