Working on my first kitchen knife.

That's too nice for chopping broccolii Larry

Thanks guys! I'm proud of it so far but I still have ample opportunity to screw it up :D

My wife's cousin is a head chef somewhere in Chicago. I'm sending it to him when done for evaluation. I wouldn't know what to do with it. When I need a knife from the butcher block it's "the long one" or "the short one." Lol

Finished this one up and attempted my first leather sheath. Not the best but I learned a lot. It's functional so I guys that's all I can ask for lol.

Did you make those scales Josh? I like them a lot!
If by make them you mean cut a block in half lol. No I bought the block. Thank you I really like how it turned out. I've used hybrid scales on a few knives and really enjoy working with them and I like the look.

Looks good! Way better than my first attempt at a sheath, too! Is it easy to draw from the sheath? It looks like my fat fingers might have difficulty.

No it's not. I should have left it shorter. That's one of the lessons. Thank you!

Just an idea: Could you put a thin piece of wood in to prevent damage to the rear piece and cut a dip into the front piece of leather?

Ya that might be a possibility. I'll look into it today.

I'm thinking about going back to the grinder and wiping that plunge out.

Finished these two for Christmas

Yeah. I left the stock pretty thick and did a 1/2 grind. I'm not worried about edge warping, just overall bending. I am now thankful I bought 14" long quench plates.
