What's going on in your shop? Show us whats going on, and talk a bit about your work!

Thanks Will! You actually hail from where I grew up... I made my first knives under the tutelage of Neil Charity over in Ringwood... No chance you knew him is there?

Cool! I never met Neil unfortunately, he made some nice stuff.

Here's some of what I'm working on at the moment. You guys like Bowies?

Blade forged and profiled.

Figured I would share what I have going on in my shop this week.

Spring tempered tangs on some tomahawks

Elmax Northwest specials profiled, and heat treated. Time to get grinding!

Profiling some more blades, I love my horizontal!

I posted a separate thread in Around-The-Grinder, but I figured some of you may be interested in seeing this as well.

Earlier this year I studied under Murray Carter for 2 weeks. It was one heck of an experience and I thought it'd be nice to share with you all.

I have an album with an overall summary and some descriptions: http://imgur.com/a/TfmXP

Thanks!

Been scrambling to get work done, needed a break so thought I'd post a photo.

Roughing out the handle on this sheepsfoot, was hoping to get it done before sunset, but we will see, can't rush the process.

Nice Ian, you choose some very nice woods.

Dude, I kinda feel bad for you. You've been pinned down for a while now. I hope you and the misses can get out some. It's beginning to stress ME out! :D

Don't scratch it...lol

Very nice Ian

Thanks!

Great photos Don! I find it amusing that given the 'most important part of any craft is using your eyes' and then no safety glasses seen anywhere. I understand that's likely an outcome of his traditional training though!

I'm extra paranoid about that stuff given I only have one good eye!

Working on the UK Chopper.... this is blade attempt #3! :foot:

Well, things got a little crazy last night. I was playing around and somehow ended up with a recurve hybrid grind tanto w/swedge. :D

Leave it to you, Ian, to play around and end up with a crazy compound grind. Dunno about the recurve (don't get me wrong, if I could do that it's probably ALL I'd do), but the rest is the usual awesomeness.

I'm going to say that you have some very strong resemblance between blades with the (super clean) grinds and handle work. Pretty sure I could easily pick your knives out of a pile. I know that you don't need the business at this point, but I'd say you're well on your way to making a brand.
