What's going on in your shop? Show us whats going on, and talk a bit about your work!

Can't get all the way into this area with powered equipment, so it will have to be done by hand. Now if only I had a Chris Williams- Wilmont grinder with a billy-roll attachment... ;) :D

A manly nail file ;) G10 with 220X PSA sand paper.

Here's a $5 tip... the ultimate "shop roll" stock--- Gorilla tape and redline paper.

I "masked off" the handle material with some Gorilla tape for this step.

More hand work...

I finally made one of these Giz-Wizzes for holding a guard or pommel while shaping/sanding. I 100% took this idea directly from conversations with Ms Tim Hancock!!! I never actually saw Tim's, so I may have done it all wonky, but it works. Thanks Tim! :)

That threaded round just rides back and forth in that slot, the "pins" on top grip a guard or pommel from the inside of the slot.

Like this.. Lots of hand work to do, that's really rough and ugly.

Sand this way, and that way, and the other way... with one grit, then another, then another.

Just a heads up

The attachments (pics) on Nick's post #762 aren't there it sees, or, at least, they won't open up for me.

Hunt on his land. Make him a knife. Sounds like a fair deal. Looks like it will be a nice little knife.

Nick Wheeler, you should not be allowed to post here, because you are in a league by yourself. There should be a thread called "What's Going on in the Super-Duper Spectacular Knifemakers' Shops?"

Those bowies you make. Wow!

I'm working on bringing this curly maple handle to life. Looking pretty fantastic at 600 grit already.

HaHaHa!!! If there was a thread like that, I wouldn't be allowed in it! :foot:

Thank you for the kind words though. :)

Shaw Blades: Loving that dyed maple. Can't wait to see the finished product.

I had been wanting to use copper liners on a knife for a while, finally gave it a go on this little guy (wood is African Blackwood). Was also my first go at polishing a hamon:

The "proceeds" from that one went right towards a huge order for leatherworking tools and supplies. The packages should be on my doorstep when I get home from work, so I can finally give some sheathmaking a shot this weekend, which is super exciting for me :)

That's a dandy weebus, I'm digging it. Are those just copper pins or a mechanical fastner?

Thanks guys! Copper Corbys (mechanical). The little ones were kind of pains to work with on this one. I had meant to use pins, but I was out of pin stock :P Also, because of that, they were a little larger than I had planned... but I like oversized pins, so it worked out :)

Yup, I reckon I'll be going to hell for that...

That is awesome. Can you tell me what thickness you used for the copper. Any WIP photos of the copper liners would be appreciated.

^ You guys are killing it! Keep 'em coming!

I got to work on a Framelock today... set the detent, lock, milled the lock recess, did tons of hand sanding and contouring of the scales. I need to keep my fingers crossed but it is always a good feeling to get the lockup and detent working. :D
