Second pin are there only to remaind me how stupid I m .............triple stupid :D This is third handle ........that pin should be hidden pin , but I make same mistake three times. On on side of handles i drill blind hole and on other .....right through..........
Plan was one pin then to make notch ? and wrap there carbon .That s why I move front pin that much back.....
it was supposed to look something like this if I do it right...without that second pin of course .

I actually think it looks fine with two pins.

Will need to be fire resistant though because of sparks flying out that direction.... Hmmm .... that does not have me wondering about that sheet plastic so close to the belt side of the grinder.........
. i have thick plastic sheeting on the wall behind my grinder, about 8 inches behind the grinder. i am surprised the plastic has never wrinkled, gotten sooty or burnt/melted from the sparks. its getting nailed with them.

Huh ... interesting. I guess I will keep it there then and keep a close eye on it for a while...

C Cushing H. There is a reinforced fire resistant plastic sheeting that we used to use for welding cover when working outdoors when I worked in refinery's. It was way cheaper than using fire blankets like we did in the past. I don't know where you can get it or how much it cost but you might try to look for it.

Thanks .. I will take a look for it

First one that's come out of my shop in a while... and that actually went how I intended (for the most part)

15N20 blade at ~62HRC dressed in some fantastic Desert Ironwood with black liners and brass pins. It's a little knife - about the size of a paring knife. Bird & Trout perhaps?

Now it's time to practice my sheath making again (ugh...)

Oh man. That is beautiful. I have got to give ironwood a try...

Good morning, Harbeer. I noticed on the nikiri with ironwood handle, you're not worried about the wood splitting off at the butt? Is this a benefit to using Ironwood because I've had maple split there when I was trying to have the grain match the contours of the handle like you did.

Thanks.

Thanks.
No. No such concern
You’d have to beat on that with a hammer many times for it to break off

and I wasn’t trying to have the grain match anything...it was simply done randomly.

4th knife out my shop, didn't go crazy on finishing since it already had a mistake and I plan on abusing the edge.
Pretty. I like the funky front of the scales ... and I would not have the courage to try what you did with the finger slot, or the filework. Got a fourth knife? Wow.

(only one question: no sharpening choil? Personal preference of mine... otherwise things get funky after a few sharpenings...)

So this is the first forged blade finished off my new Coote grinder. Just upgraded from a horrible 4x36 delta Lowe’s special after 3-4 years. Amazing what you can do with the right tool for the job. I was honestly starting to feel like I was only going to be able to make “prison shanks” as one of my friends once said but now I think things have finally stepped up. This one still has a few small scratches to sand out but not bad.

O1 tool steel blade/crushed shell resin handle.

Critique away...
