all in working order thankfully. Doing a batch of sheaths, and it's proven to be very handy to have two drills with the two different size bits I need. Now I just need a third drill and it's a collection!Does that one is broken?
I have two drill presses also, a bench top for my sheaths and a floor model for handles, tangs, and guards.all in working order thankfully. It's not abnormal. Especially if you haven't ground too deep.I did my first ever forge weld! Some scrap 26c3 and mild steel.
Is it normal for it to be this visible before etching? It seems well attached
Just takes practice, and some sharp files, but it looks like you just about got her done.I have to stand on a stool to use the big drill lol
decided to get this guard and spacer area dealt with. Tough to make everything flow together here, but I can do better

A belt grinder is much faster than files and small pieces of sand paper.lolthe last 1% consumes 90% of the time
also fatal mistakesA belt grinder is much faster than files and small pieces of sand paper.lol
All machines in the work shop can take a bite out of you at any time but I think the buffing machine is the most dangerous IMHOalso fatal mistakes![]()
I was thinking on fatal mistakes which will ruin handles .Fast grinder , wrong move and that is that .......ciao handleAll machines in the work shop can take a bite out of you at any time but I think the buffing machine is the most dangerous IMHO
the only way that I can get the result I'm aiming for is with files and sandpaper. I'm all too aware of my inexperience with my grinder and the limitations that come with that. Don't want to ruin a pretty good knife by trying to save a little timeA belt grinder is much faster than files and small pieces of sand paper.lol

I haven't done any intricate guards like you... But for normal blades I almost exclusively use my grinder and don't start hand Sanding until 800 grit, like on this one. I rough it in with the platen then remove the hard platen for a soft platen (or slack belt). Definitely saves a ton of time!the only way that I can get the result I'm aiming for is with files and sandpaper.
