Next time try this , heat treat and temper rectangular piece of steel .Less chance of warping, easier to straighten in tempering stage and then find your knife inside ?

Makes sense, especially for very thin material as this. I will not go below 1.5 mm anymore and this only for this small pairing knives. I dont like too much flex and all this bending problems and performance can be achieved with distal taper.

You know that I make too many knives from circular saw blade from HSS steel and I can't find any difference in working with hard or soft steel .Only difference / for me of course/ is that working with already hardened steel is less of a headache .

Not sure if I've posted in this thread before, but I really enjoy making scandinavian style sheaths out of thick leather and without wooden inserts. While it's only a hobby for now, something about the absorption while doing leather work is very theraputic for me. Here's one for a Malanika.

Let's see what the hamon gods have to say later. First time trying satinite on this steel and I will shoot for a lower austenitizing., fingers crossed...

That's a really beautiful sheath!

Are you going to get a compensation for the damaged goods?

Also, test etch on the big one at a 600 dirty finish.
