I got 4 bars of MagnaCut during Pops Christmas sale :) About half of those are on their way back to me from heat treating as blanks, as well as some other steels. A CPM 20CV Kosher slaughter knife (Shechita)with a blade 17.75" long, 2.4" wide, .110" thick is the one I am looking for to grinding the least! But I have a fresh order of belts coming in from Pops, too, including their new Optimal and Destroyers and the self sharpening AO belts. And some 8670 :) I just need time off from my normal job!

A little tedious, but the handle is done except for perhaps some buffing.

Those handles are part of your style. When I think of Bowie knives I think Tony Mont!
Thank you for your kind words!
To give credit where credit is due, I got inspired from Burt Foster to do this kind of handles!

EDIT: to keep in the theme of the thread, here is a video of the knife I posted earlier.

These are going to look sweet on my old Square wheel! I actually got the (green) zirconia this time partially because I wanted my new belts to stand out from my old belts (orange, red, brown). The 36 is never going to touch steel except for the tang when I'm shaping handles.

What is that flexible stuff blue hose called? Need that for my setup!

I've thought about dust collection but decided not to mess with the idea since I will move soon and have a dedicated grinding room.

Can't remember the name but Simple Little Life has a video on youtube about them.

Awesome, thanks! I was looking for some way to be able to position the hose to stay in different positions!

Tony, why not some sort of dust extraction? I use a simple and movable setup for my handle material grinding, it takes care of most of the dust. Easy to put together.

Cool set up.
How strong is the vacuum that does the sucking?

I've usually seen it used for coolant on misters and drill presses.
Idk how well it works with vacuums because of all the inside surfaces?

does your swarf bucket stay there all the time?
I used to have the bucket closer to the bottom wheel of the grinder with a stand but ditched the idea because I had to replace the water too frequently.
