Those curved pieces of the handle will look amazing if done well. That might give me nightmares...Been thinking of doing a subhilt for a while, I finally came down to a design. Hugely inspired by Sam Lurquin.
So far it's a pretty rough sketch and before I begin, I must make a mock up to check the size and diameter of the subhilt etc. I can already hear myself crying and cursing with all those curved transitions...

Indeed such a subtle detail makes the whole difference. In the beginning, I designed the parts flats and the knife looked odd.Those curved pieces of the handle will look amazing if done well. That might give me nightmares...
I will write tomorrow my process along with some pictures.
