On that mild steel blank bevels are grind only with 40 grit , I stop grinding a little earlier .Plan was on real one blank to finish grinding with 80 grit so I leave little more meat on that sacrificial blank .AND I was a second from disaster, to totally destroy the real one ! I use jig for grinding bevels and when i finish grinding with 40 grit belt I change that belt with 80 grit one ................Fortunately, I don't even know why or how I just touched the 80 grit belt on 23 m/s with bevel.........due to the difference in belt thickness IF I press properly on jig half of blade would disappear in next second !!! I knew about that problem , but knowing does not mean that you will apply what you know in right moment .I adjusted the grinding angle again and a happy ending.............Thats a good practice, I am always in the hurry to make a knife and skip the practicecould use it though, if grinding in batch, the second onw always turn out to be better or have less problems
