I finished my first knife from Elmax. I already like it - as usual I accidently hit the tip of the knife during hand sanding with my aluminum sanding block. With N690 that usually results in the tip bending (pre-HT) or simply breaking (post-HT). This time no damage at all (post-HT). It grinds nicely, polishes fine up until P600 - going to P800 was a grit too far for me.
Handle is some sort of Indian Blackwood, hardware is bronze. Basic leather sheath. Thanks.

Good choices with a lovely profile.

Next time leave extra steel here .........What you have now will be grinded away and wont help with overheating tip .

Thank you for clearing that up! 😂 I didn’t think of the tip as going in that direction. I guess I’ll just have to go slow. I got one blade done without burning, and that by slowing the grinder down. This was my first attempt at leaving extra material on…..nice “duh” for me! 😝

Mad Skills!

Oops. Had this happen trying to straighten a warp.

Was going to check and see how the edge performed without doing two proper heat tempers. Tempered once for two hours at 375. Thinking I probably also cooked it a little in the forge for HT. Anyways, it is in the bucket of shame now and got my answer regarding a single and low temp tempering cycle. 80CRV2

Onto the next couple. 8.5 " slicer, and a 4.5" paring forged in frustration so they should be good right?
