I cleaned and soaked these deer antler in potassium permanganate for 5 minutes, then let them dry overnight. I think they’ll make some nice looking knife handles.

Nice what kind of concentration did you use? I've got a deer antler project coming up, and I've never done this before...
 
Beautiful stitching. Can you show what awl (or other tool) you use?

Thank you :) and sure, I'll try get a photo up later. It's a very common pair of stitching prongs, but I do use a french method of running the stitch which gives it the "zig zag" effect on the backside. Most people don't use stitching prongs on such thick leather (because prongs don't go through all of the layers). Instead, they will usually opt for the drill press because it's a lot more convenient... I transfer the holes on each layer individually.
