Finally at the point where I can create the type of knife I envision as my personal style. Lots of work and room to grow/improve but happy with my progress. Also super excited that I finally have a etcher and name/makers mark for my work.

Looks like the fit and finish is top notch. Nice makers mark too.

I cleaned and soaked these deer antler in potassium permanganate for 5 minutes, then let them dry overnight. I think they’ll make some nice looking knife handles.

Thanks man!!! It’s an oxidizer that stains the antler. I soaked them for about 5 minutes then allowed them to dry overnight.

It darkens antler and bone to a dark brown

Thanks man!!! 1 1/2 cups of distilled water per 1/2 tsp of potassium permanganate.

I'm working on a different project but I needed to clear my mind. What better way then to solder a bolster/guard?
Nickle silver on stainless, second time doing a solder job like this and way less mess to clean up.
I'm pretty happy with this one.

Thank you and sure, I'll try get a photo up later. It's a very common pair of stitching prongs, but I do use a french method of running the stitch which gives it the "zig zag" effect on the backside. Most people don't use stitching prongs on such thick leather (because prongs don't go through all of the layers). Instead, they will usually opt for the drill press because it's a lot more convenient... I transfer the holes on each layer individually.

I like the finish, it's distinctive! Not sure how it might wear through use, though?

I use a milling machine for pretty much everything I can, and in my case I use carbide endmills to cut away steel along where I want my blade bevels to be.
