This was a "release the creative demons" one...haven't made a tanto...or a chisel grind in years...figured why not. CPM 4V with a right hand hollow grind chisel and a milled groove, featuring a tapered tang. I may do another...I actually like chisel grinds!

What have we here? This is a full size nessmuk hunter (hidden tang) in .220 thick CPM 3V with vintage (1960's USSR) crosscut canvas micarta and red g10 spacers, 416 stainless guard, corby and lanyard tube. Still finishing the handle, but almost done.

I’ve always felt a bit intimidated to post here but here goes.

This is the mid stage of a hidden tang knife for a friend of mine, with a micarta frame and suretouch handle scales. Three knives in progress for him at the moment but this is the one I’m most excited about for some reason.

not that I'm telling you what to do or how to feel about anything, but I don't think there's any good reason why you should feel intimidated posting your work here👍

as possibly the forum's LEAST talented knifemaker level member (not a self-dig, just a fact lol), trust me when I tell you you have nothing to be intimidated by here. If someone like ME can post here and get positive feedback, someone like you will do nothing but inspire and amaze!

would like to take you to task on that point! I am not letting anyone claim my wooden spoon!

And this is the other one for the same gentleman. I had already finished assembling and shaping the handle and just now when I grabbed it I noticed some very small gaps between the liners and tang, so just waiting for the CA glue to cure before I get to hand sanding and refining.

@thedge I started as a hobby in 2015. I didn’t realize how many resources there were such as bladeforums for people to learn. I did everything the hard way and learned very slowly. I’ve never had a lot of money and my shop is evidence of that. I learned how to do more with less but I think a master craftsman or anyone with formal training would cringe at how I do things (hence the feeling of intimidation). To my way of thinking I still haven’t even learned enough about knife making to have forgotten any of it yet.

But I love knives. I love the people I make them for. And that has brought me this far.
