Finished sharpening these this morning. I want to leave the finish dark but am having a hard time keeping it consistent. The finish on the top one is just baffling to me. I might sand it down and try again since it picked up a couple random scratches while I was sharpening it somehow. Some of the streaks are due to oil and/or wax on the blades. The top 2 are W2 and the bottom one is 1095. Most of the clay popped off the middle one in the oven but I still like the way it looks. Hard to get good pictures but I found a spot in the yard the had decent enough lighting.

just had it on hand, it was close to the thickness I needed. I'm not even sure where it came from- might be it was from Lightfoot, he sent me a bunch of weird pieces of material awhile ago

Here’s a present for my mom, a santoku in AEB-L with dyed and stabilized maple and natural micarta liners. I used stainless Corby bolts. This is the one I was going to use for the KITH, but the front Corby is a little off center and I realized I probably wouldn’t finish another one before Christmas, so chose to send this to my mom.

Back to my folder after the KITH,

I have had a couple of re thinks on number nine and decided on a Barlow pattern but undecided on the handle material, giraffe bone, ebony or stag. I need a new band saw blade so job stopped. I am going to try a few things out so, mill relieved liners and a pivot pin bearing still undecided on long pull or nail nick. I was going to do the spring filework but figured that would be too fancy for a working knife.
