working on some CAD slipjoint patterns. All inspired by catalog pictures, other maker's work, or actual knives I've taken apart
I am now also drawing (making even) a slipjoint using a vector drawing as a starting point. I decided to incorporate the spring preload into the drawing, while it seems to me you do not have it there. Any specific reason why not to do that? My thinking is that for a given thickness of a spring, the preload can be dialed in and then embedded in the template, therefore removing the need to deal with it later in what I would consider less convenient way (e.g. bending the spring). Just trying to understand your process. Thanks.

I got inspired by a thread over in the general forum about knives (especially hunting knives) being too thick. Thought it was time to challenge myself… I might have gone too far. The mini bug out is for size comparison. Just finished the etch and am about to pretty it up and put the scales on.

Big tidy up today, to embarrassed to post pictures after viewing some "clean room" quality workshops, surely there can't just be me who is a messy bugger. :)

Just got 26 blades back from Paul Bos Heat Treat. All 80CRV2 so some durable Hunter/Camp knives in the making. Just basic 3”-4” blades with simple handles. I am looking forward to finishing up some of the Wharncliffs. I also just received my order of Dymalux from CWP so my holidays will be busy😎

Just finished my first attempt at a Coke Bottle handle. Or considering the color scheme and my northern Wisconsin/Cheesehead heritage a Sundrop Bottle handle.
