What's going on in your shop? Show us whats going on, and talk a bit about your work!

Hey Peter. I dont do much heat treating so hopefully some more experienced members can comment but your clay is dangerously close to the edge in a few places. Dont want to run into pearlite after a couple years of regular sharpenings :O

weekend project sneak peek.

That's hawaiian mango with black wool mycarta and cherry burl spacer/bolsters. This is my first WA style handle and first bedded handle.
I'm not sure about the butt end. I rounded it over which feels really nice but I think I might change it to a more traditional style

That's bloody beautiful. Would buy!

Thanks Aaron! I find the tanto's to be quite a bit more difficult to grind than single bevel grinds. I feel like when I can master these kind of grinds, I'll be on my way to becoming a competent grinder. Right now these are still taking me three times longer than standard grinds.

Just finished up this guy. Combo ground, hunter in 3/16" 52100.

M2 recurve tanto. This one will get crosscut carbon fiber from ghost!

And a delicious snack I had earlier. Cheese crisps, Costal British Cheddar, blueberries and homemade raspberry jam. Oh, and I threw in my edc Emerson horseman, Shade tree bolsters and black g10. uploadfromtaptalk1411367338648.jpg

nicely done! you seem to have a nice domed pin there to.

Thanks! I wish both sides looked as good. Unfortunately I didn't leave quite enough length on the pin to get a decent dome on the other side, it ended up flat as you can see in one of the photos. I would have tried over again but this one is for personal use and evaluation so I didn't mind that and a couple of other visual imperfections.

These are just off of my bench.
#1 has both my first hidden tang and first guard. 1080, stabilized poplar root and stainless guard.

Still mainly making straight razors before venturing into knives a bit more. Haven't been doing anything for a couple years as my stuff has been in storage for my real job. Finally in a place to get back to making again.

This is my first straight I've made in a couple years. Also first etch of my logo as I've used a hand stamp in the past. Really like the ease of etching vs. stamping now.

I've been reading through this thread for the last week and have learned quite a bit and admired the beautiful work.

I had to move last year for work and was forced to sell all my equipment. I've finally settled down for a bit, and just started building a new shop in my garage this month. I managed to get a charcoal forge set up in the back yard, but need a new anvil stand.

I've got three kiridashi that I have been doing completely by hand for the last few days, and are almost ready for heat treat.

I've also got some customization projects on going and will be building a clean room in part of the garage for painting.

I've picked up a compressor and grinder (4x36, its what I can afford right now) and am going to keep trying to expand and the shop back up and running.

I will try to get pictures up this evening.

Here is probably my 6th knife total...and first one in over 5 years (I went to college and got 2 degrees) so I'm getting back at it.

I am still here!

Came back from the “States” with some supplies.

Some steel from Aldo. Those that know me know that will last me for at least a few weeks. ;)

And a graver sharpening kit from Steve Lindsay.

Onward we go, back to working on that first folder.

Patrice, What are those plastic template things used for? I have never seen those before. Larry Lehman
