Spalted birch and I had good expectations of that handle block. Bummer!
Ah well, olive wood is beautifull as well.
I keep it in the livingroom for a few days, pick it up several times a day and mark any hot spots I can feel. Only when there are no more pressure points I'll finish it and make it a big, round butt.

I think spalted woods are overrated and that you're olive wood is the better choice regardless :) What wood is the top one? The finish is amazing, beautiful lines and beautiful work as always!

Finished some prototype sheaths:

This is one of those blades that where just laying around because something didn't work out.
Today this one went from a bad flat grind to this hollow grind. I think it looks good and I'm actualy looking forewards to finish this one.

Nice fat tang on that one. You really have an eye for lines. I'm curious, what's the general size on these little puukko's that you make?

I went to Dave Lisch's custom knife show near Yelm, WA over the weekend and it was incredible!

So many outstanding knives, beautiful venue, well attended, people bought a lot of knives and just an inspiring vibe- so much love and camaraderie. It really reminded me a lot of the show in Seattle around 10 years ago.

Sounds like they'll be doing it again next year- I can't wait!

This is just before the exhibitors started to arrive, and that's Andrea Lisch up front. Real nice venue!

There was an amazing family vibe, too. This is Will Stelter and micro Maumasi

My 'campsite', with one of Dave's trikes which actually rides really well

I left the show with a billet of Salem Straub's rando damascus. I think it'll turn into a handful of folding knives some time down the road

I'm sorry I didn't take more pictures, but if you're on Instagram there's much to be seen.

Oh Man!!! I love those trikes. I have a bunch of old large square and round WI that may have a new life. Either a bike or a trike.
