So update on Dremel Mill 2.0....getting ready for 3.0! LOL. Everything worked well except the table on the linear slide actuator has some slop to it. When I started pushing on the vise to cut the slot, the table holding the handpiece would start moving up and the table has a little side to side play, but a few inches down at the cutting tool itself, it was a noticeable slop. 3/32" bit made a slot over 1/8" and it wasn't a perfectly straight line. If I used my left hand to hold the height screw and pushed on the side of the table to hold it tight, it did much better. I found drilling a starter hole made a big difference instead of using the Dremel bit to drill the hole, too. Useable and very close to what I want to do, but a pain to hold a screw and push the table with one hand, and use the other to push the vise on the linear rail.

Fixed gantry worked well, vise worked better with 4 screws instead of 2 holding it to the carriage bases. Height adjustment was better, but did back up occasionally. Bottom half is good to go!

So next step is use a better linear actuator table shown below. The cheap one I first used is $35-$45 on the Big River site; the nicer one I got for my surface grinder build has a better adjustment screw and a locking lever, so I can set the height, lock it, and then make the cut and is $85. This lever keeps the height fixed better and table more rigid as well. So now I get to mock up the adapter plate for the scope rail and get it mounted to the cross piece. I may get the angle iron and do it all at once.

I am beginning to think I should have just gotten the Anolex 3030 Pro with the 3 axis dual linear rails! LOL.

Still need to sharpen and do the final buff and polish. Magnacut with target hardness of 62.5-63 (2075F HT, Dry Ice Slurry -100F, 330F temper 2x2 hrs.) Ziricote wood, nickel silver Corby bolts, blue G10 liners.
