Here’s a few I’m working on. The first is one I’m going to cerakote- this is it after beadblasting.
The seconds are some AEB-L blades I ground the bevels in yesterday- I think they look alright so far… ready for heat treating IMG_4200.jpegIMG_4217.jpeg

Just finished up this book spot piece...as usual, I promise I'll get better daylight video😂...but this Bali Ballistic / Jerry Hom "Taranis" is DONE! Hand engraved and selectively anodized titanium handles, polished bare Ti/gold ano knotwork on a satin blue ano background...I'm absolutely thrilled with how it came out!😁

I needed some relaxing time, so I spent a couple hours in the shop. After wrapping several throwing hawk handles, I grabbed a wide bar of Magnacut and laid out seven Japanese kitchen blades. It took longer to lay out the placement, and notate cutting order and blade path, than it did to cut them. Probably 15 minutes on te saw.
Total waste was probably not enough to make a paring knife. I'll clean them up a bit and then put in a bin for next year. They will sit until February when I can get back to work in the shop.

Tip:
Blade lube really helps when cutting curves to get around corners in steel on a bandsaw. I use Stick-Kut. Lube the blade often when cutting steel and the blade will last many times longer. Lubing when the blade is new is VERY important so the teeth can get broken in ... not broken off.

Relton Stick-Kut. Use it on any blade that need lubing. It is a grease type, so not so good on wood that would get stained, but wonderful on metal and hard things like G-10. I get it on Amazon. It may be available in the UK, but there are many types that are similar.

100% on lubing the bandsaw blade Stacy. Extends blade life in a huge way. Vital on the repurposed Port-Bands, as those short little blades don't get much time to cool off or shed swarf before they've completed a lap, and are in the cut again. I used to use stick lube and/or Anchor Lube, but have since switched to a mist cooler, and much prefer it. Its hands free, and has a side benefit of keeping the swarf blown free of the cut line. No matter what lube system one chooses, it will be of great benefit to blade life.

Edited to add that the coolant I use, is a product called Kool Mist 77. Mixed with distilled water at a ratio of 30:1. Same stuff that use on my surface grinder, mill, and lathe. No rusting issues at all.
