Nice desert ironwood burl unfortunately has cracks that lets the epoxy seep out...
At least they are filled now ;)

I made this "gift" for my niece for christmas - the hope is she will have to work a little bit to get to the actual presents. It's a steel box, she will have to cut along the indicated line with a hacksaw, and then there is a locked compartment inside, and hopefully she will take the hint (lockpicking tools and a link to a video about lockpicking) and learn how to pick the padlock there. I will either be the coolest uncle or the biggest weirdo on the christmas gathering.

Preparing for my JS performance test. Both knives are made from 1075 steel and passed the rope cut and 2x4s chopping with flying colours.
Also, on one of them I did the bend test and performed better than expected. Went to 90 degrees 8 times and on the 9th I went past 90 to break it on purpose.

I think it was S Seedy Lot who's always maintained 1075's superiority to 1095.

That's an impressive bend test. What hardness are you running those at?

I don't have an accurate way of measuring the hardeness but my heat treat protocol should yield +-60HRC.

While 1075 is tough, both blades had a really high temper 2/3s of the width to withstand the 90 degrees bend.

It’s a sickness…, .
I’m partial to the lower 3.
Need to get them finished, too many knives ahead of them.

Just received a shipment back from Bos HT.
Majority are one of these three with a smattering of kitchen knives. All are 14C28N Rc~63.
I think I’ll put the same handle on these three and see which shape I like most for EDC. My thoughts right now would be the middle one.
I’ll post once completed.IMG_1251.jpeg
