I haven't ever done a handle like this before and just thinking about it was daunting. So, I just started getting after it and here's where she's at;

While I've done a good handful of knives using a ferrule, this is the first framed handle one. This approach simplifies some things while complicating others- such is life!

The frame and ferrule are 6Al4V titanium, and the pin too.

First, it is good to see you have your priorities straight!

Second, you will love wet grinding.

Third, Thise will be nice knives. That is almost the exact shape I make the most of. I sell 10 usuba/santoku for every fancy knife. Simple knife .... simple handle ... simple build ... easy sell.
Thanks, Stacy! It’s patterned on the knife my wife reaches for the most often. These will be the first ones I’ve made for other people’s kitchens. Planning on gifting one to each household in my family.

What a pain in my neck this Wakizashi is today. It will be straight when it’s done. But not without significant effort.

Having some fun outside of working... I engraved the parts of out of wood and painted them this morning for a larger "version" of my logo. I might hang it in my shop, not sure yet, but it was fun!

I peened the black/yellow knife and the pivot pin disappeared in the shadow disk as it should.
I peened the middle and back pin confex so it looks a bit like a steel ball at the bottom of the jigging.
I enjoy doing this so I jigged this brown paper micarta one al well :)
It has a cross cut natural G10 shield.
