What's happening in the David Mary Custom shop?

On your rear a bad idear if gots you stuffs to do,
The hours slip, your plans will drip, and time will bid adieu.
Rise and stride, let vigor guide, through tasks both old and new,
For action's grace and swift embrace brings dreams and goals to view.

Sounds like a good day to me! (Every once in a while).

I'm reverse engineering a Code 4. Why the Code 4?

A few reasons.

It is a lockback, and thus seems to me the simplest foling knife mechanism to work with.
I can make a tri-ad lock analogue by using a hexagonal stop pin, thus circumventing the patent issues (ie "cylindrical stop pin"), while arguably creating something even stronger than the standard tri-ad lock.
The Code 4 is the only lock back I have in my possession.
After creating those CAD files, I can mod them into any shape I want, while keeping functional the lock geometry intact.

Bravo to however close you can get to the Tri-ad Lock ! :thumbsup:

IMO , the best , strongest , and most reliable lock , known to me .

Just to add , my experience with the Tri-ad Lock is QC variable and somewhat problematic .

I've bought many bargain priced returns with very bad lock stick and anything but smooth .

With tons of wearing in , they all have worked in .

The best , out of box , have been the AD10 and the 4 Max Scout .

The AD10 was initially just so smooth , I honestly thought something was broken ! :p

Here's a direction. A little bigger than my beloved Resilience, at just over 10" overall with a 4.3" blade.

Looks great ! ☺️

I'd leave out the extra little bubbles , though . ;)

I'm biased in favor of huge folders , but ~4" is a good practical compromise .

That's where the Tri-ad type lock strength will really start to shine . 4" and above .
