What's happening in the David Mary Custom shop?

And here is the rapid turnaround from Andy, whom I gave these 8670 blades to only last week, and they are already back in the shop, hardened and ready to be built. I left an AEB-L khukuri in the pic for comparison purposes to the one that I cut by hand, and which is also an extra at this point.

The three knives bottom right are also "extras" in that they are not yet spoken for.

David! Looking good! What are the specs on that Bowie looking knife in 8670 picture, third down from top? Also the specs on the third from bottom camp knife that is available?

Well they are one offs, but they are all made from 3.7 mm stock, except the filet which was 2.4 mm. Normally I would make kitchen cutlery from thinner stock, but this is what I had to work with at the time, and the gentleman was okay with that, given the grind I would use. They all have subtle handle contouring, with scallops at the pinky where (I believe) it counts most. And as of 10 minutes ago, they are all razor sharp and ready to pop off hairs and process nummy nums.

Started with a shop clean up, which included discarded a whole lot of worn belts. Here here is the "MIP*" as it were after that.

With fresh belts from the collection:

And now past their usefulness for bevel grinding, and make up the beginnings of a whole new pile 🤣

After they did the main job I got them for:

Time for a break.

*mise en place - a term I learned a couple decades ago in culinary school, which just means putting your work and tools out for the job at hand .
