Well, even my non knife friends are impressed with your work sir, and those khukris look exquisite. They were a commission. A gentleman who hired me to make him a khukuri last year was kind enough to show my work to his friends, and so he hired me to make them each one as well. Whether they are gifts for them or they are paying for them I don't know. So one person bought them from me is all I can say with certain knowledge.
Detent ramp?? What’s that? One of my S35VN Resiliences came in. Ordered this one last week from Blades Canada when they came in stock. At the time of this post, I have reground it from about .020" behind the edge to under .005", as well as radiused the spine, and rounded over the hard corner on the thumb ramp. A nice change of pace in the evening after a full afternoon of coarse grinding heavy khukuris (I'll finish the grind on those tomorrow).

Normally I hit it with the surface conditioning belt afterwards, but I left it with 220 grit ceramic belt satin finish.

Now to cut in a detent ramp, and it'll be good to go. Time to move the 8Cr one on to a new home.
I believe it's done to make it easier to over come the detent.Detent ramp?? What’s that?
Excuse my ignorance but I don’t think I’ve ever heard that term.
The only thing I can think of is that you remove some material around the detent hole to make the detent weaker, but that sounds strange unless this knife has a particularly deep/tight detent…
im assuming not the detent hole side, the other side of the track. although I guess ya could do both sides if ya needed to or wanted.Detent ramp?? What’s that?

still not sure youre getting what im saying....the other side not the detent hole....wont affect the detent closed. only through the action and being smoother.....Huh - that’s what I thought.
I tend to like strong detents but perhaps this one is extra stiff…

now could someone do the ramp on the actual detent hole...sure but typically this ramp is for the action...not the strong detent when closed.....but it could be..but im assuming David did the action side...but well see what he says.....
I believe that's what Olamic does with their knives.im assuming not the detent hole side, the other side of the track. although I guess ya could do both sides if ya needed to or wanted.
like Willie said...think of a small ramp down carved into the blade up to the detent track....to let the detent ball ride in and out smoother and less hard catch.....
really enjoy the lines of your khukri - clean
are those really 1/4" thick stock? or even thicker?
is it just me or does this have the same angles as a small Spyderco? Good small cutter.
